    Hi There,

    I’m having a strange issue with the Barclays app that they were unable to help with over the phone. I’m wanting to sign up for Barclays Avios Rewards on the Premier account and then switch another current account to it for the 25k bonus Avios.

    I also have an active Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card.

    In the Barclays App, when i attempt to sign up for Barclays Avios Rewards, i’m unable to select the radio button against my current account details, which means i’m unable to progress through the screen and link my BA executive club account. I phoned Barclays who did not have a clue as to why that would be happening.

    I occasionally get an SP046 error when accessing the Barclays Avios Rewards UI in the App. Additionally i get a UD001 error if i try to select the Blue Rewards interface, i’m not interested in the Blue Rewards, but it was to test if there were any additional issues with the app.

    Just wondering if anyone had any insight or had experienced any similar problems. Barclays CS speculated it may be due to having the Premier Account and the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card open simultaneously, but could offer no more than that and i was left without a resolution.

    How will you get the 25k bonus is, as you suggest, you already have a Premier account? Switching another account to an existing one doesn’t get you the SUB.

    I only signed up about 10 days ago for the Premier Account.

    The process is then to apply for the Avios Rewards in the app (within 4 months), then switch an existing current account to the Barclays Premier one (within 3 months of joining Barclays Avios Rewards)

    Issue is the app is not allowing me to activate Avios Rewards (unselectable radio button against the account i’m trying to apply the rewards to)

    Hi,
    I’ve been having the same issues.
    I applied for the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit in July and that got set up no problem. First lot of points (including welcome bonus) went over to British Airways without issue.
    I then decided to join Barclays Premier banking and everything started to go wrong. I couldn’t active Barclays Avios rewards as I too couldn’t select the button for the account the fee should come out from. I contacted Premier customer service. They initially thought it was because their systems had generated me 2 customer profiles. 1 for the Barclaycard and the other for the Barclays Premier account. They merged the accounts into 1 customer profile. It still didn’t work. In moving my Barclaycard to the Premier bank customer profile, they have severed the link between my Barclaycard and British Airways and can’t sort it. The Barclaycard Avios point haven’t transferred this month due to the issue. A formal complaint was raised and they outcome is that they are aware of the issue, which they say is affecting around 60% of customer trying to sign up, but they have no resolution nor timescale at the moment. I did receive some temporary financial compensation though whilst they are looking into it. Not good, but they have assured me that they will honour the points I should have received once the IT issue is resolved.
    I have now switched in my other current account, which the adviser told me to do, and they would sort out the points due for the switch once the issue is sorted.
    I have also raised a complaint with BA Exec Club to see if they can put some pressure on getting it resolved.
    Overall, very frustrating but there’s nothing more I can do but wait.

    Thanks Tom, that is useful info, albeit frustrating to hear about. Sounds like the same issue, albeit i joined the Premier Current Account a few days after the Mastercard, so no chance even for any Avios gained from the Mastercard sign up to transfer over.

    I’ll start the phone call/complaint merry go round this week. Will do the same myself with BA Executive Club assuming no satisfactory response.

    Am I glad to have found this thread.

    I’ve had the exact same issue, Barclaycard has no problem connecting, but my premier account won’t allow me to select the radar button over my premier account.

    I hate to say it but in 2 months I’ve had zero luck, many phone calls, visits in brach, and even a complaint procedure at which I was told it has been closed and it is BA’s issue. The banking managers at the branch witness it not working and are dumbfounded as to what the issue is, and obviously out of their control.

    I’ve had no compensation for the time lost, and I was told to go to the financial ombudsman to force them to reopen the case, as they considered it was resolved. To which as you can all imagine my fury. (So if you are offered compensation up front prior to the complaints procedure, take it.) I stupidly said no, as I wanted the points I was owed.

    Barclays has really dropped the ball here, it looks like a huge IT issue, and the IT team is reluctant to fix and resolve it, instead blaming British Airways, which when I’ve phone is unaware of the issue, and palms it off back over to Barclays, who is rightly to blame.

    Had similar issues with various SPXXX errors. Eventually sorted out by phone when I threatened to close all of my Barclays accounts and got a useful person within Premier Complaints/Customer Services. Persevere – I think I got a couple of hundred quid as apology for the inconvenience, etc.

    I’m in the same situation as everyone here. Tried to get it resolved via Chat but was unable to sign up for the Barclays Avios Rewards still as they cannot do it manually apparently.

    DarylY, did you manage to get it sorted by ringing the Premier team?

    Has anyone managed to do this exact process successfully?

    I have the BC Avios plus card, and about to hit 2nd year of the HSBC WE card for the 2nd half of the bonus. Once I receive the 2nd SUB, I am considering switching from HSBC Premier to Barclays Premier for that SUB and additional Avios earnings / upgrade vouchers. As a family of 4, having 2 vouchers would be good.

    This thread is putting me off massively – I thought HSBC IT was bad! Be very interested to see if anyone has managed to switch successfully and have Barclays Premier & Rewards working.

    Hi Everyone,

    I have some good news…

    I managed to get back through to the complaints team, who apologized that the case had been initially closed.

    It appears they are now openly investigating the issue for everyone, I mentioned I wasn’t the only one previously. (doubt it had any sway) but they are now aware it was their issue all along. The tech team is apparently delivering a fix tonight for android users among which this issue is the most prevalent.

    However, I was warned not to upgrade if the fix is successful until the 1st of October as Barclays is planning to run a new promotion for those with either of the Avios Barclaycards and a premier account so that upon sign up you receive a rewards bonus 100,000 Avios (I am yet to find any press about this to back up the complaint handlers claims). I was also awarded £100 for my sorrows. I haggled for more up from £75 and was told £100 is the limit.

    I strongly advise you all to ring the premier team today, log and be persistent. Make sure you plot it as a complaint so that if there is a fix, you are at least compensated in someway.

    The direct complaints number is 0800 282390 (This rings through to barclays/barclaycard but someone can help you). They will possibly want you to state a case number, so if you don’t have one you need to log from the front end with the premier team. The above number is only with existing complaints logged.

    Thanks for the update. Let’s hope this turns out to be true! A nice Avios bonus would go a long way to making up for the issues.

    I’ve just had a Barclaycard app update (not Barclays Bank app update) and I seem to be able to select the radio button for the account for the fee to come from for the Barclays Premier Avios. I can’t decide whether to sign up yet given the mention above of bigger Avios bonuses potentially to come. Anyone got the same update?

    …I thought it too good to be true. I selected the Premier account for the fee to come from, then accepted the Ts and Cs, clicked ‘Go to British Airways’ and……. error code SP042 (Something’s gone wrong). Be good to hear if anyone else has the same issue.

    It’s finally worked. It errored a couple of times but let me link the account eventually. This is for the Premier current account. Its showing my BA Avios balance in the app and showing the progress to the 12 month Anniversary upgrade reward.
    My Barclaycard Avios Plus card, however, may not be linked as its showing no pending Avios for that account, nor showing the progress to the bonuses (both of which I’ve already achieved). I’ll keep an eye on that and let you know.

    So we have a standard Barlcays joint account then took the BC Avios Mastercard for the 50,000 bonus for spending £3,000 in 3 months. It is under my wife’s name which makes it more for me to be able to chase it while she’s at work, and evening call wait times are crazy. So we can the avios in her Barlcays app under the Barclaycard but it won’t transfer to BA as it says they are not linked, we get an error page. Even though I we logged my wifes BAEC number on her sign up. BC twitter DM service just replied and said it’s a BA problem? We seem to being having similar issues as everyone but not premier customers…..

    However I am unable to switch on Avios Rewards in the app. I turned off the Blue Rewards I was paying £5pm for, but when I try to turn on Avios Rewards, the button to select my Premier account to take the £12pm fee from is greyed out and I can’t select it. I also had a few errors at different times trying to get to that screen.

    I contacted chat, and they only said to switch the device off or log out. I also tried on my PC but get errors. The only other thing they said was to wait 48 hours and try again, as thats how long it can take for the Blue Rewards to be removed from my account (it has now been removed but same issue still).

    Wondering if anyone else having same issues?

    Following on from above. Someone mentioned using the Barclaycard app instead, tried that, and was able to select my Premier account to take the money, however when I try to link my BAEC account, it says account not linked and I have not joined Avios Rewards. Very frustrating!

    Edit: got a message in the Barclaycard app that it was updated, tried again and managed to link the accounts.

    Hi, this has been ongoing for me for months. Logged 3 different complaints and spent hours on the phone. I managed to subscribe yesterday by downloading/updating the “barclaycard” app. Worked for me. However the “barclays mobile banking” app method doesn’t work.

    Once you’ve signed up through the barclaycard app, your points will be viewable on both apps.

    Got an error first but tried again and it worked… finally.

    Also logged that I want compensation. I asked for £100 (I believe the maximum amount)

    Hope you manage to get your compensation, having to wait 3 months for something like this would be really annoying.

    I tried the Barclaycard app way and was eventually able to do it, at first it was saying can’t link to my BAEC but eventually was able to. I couldn’t edit my original comment so added a second comment above.
