Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Best option for rebooking outbound reward flights

  • 141 posts

Hi all, would appreciate your help.

We have a trip planned this weekend with family joining. They have unfortunately both fallen unwell and it looks increasingly like they will not be well enough in time for Saturday.

The trip is booked in Club Europe on Avios on a single booking (not separate for inbound/outbound, unfortunately).

If necessary, we would like to rebook the outbound flights for 2/3 days later, probably keeping inbound flights the same.

Is there a way to do this, or is the only option to cancel the entire booking and rebook, losing £100 and hoping the return flights will re-enter inventory?

Is it worth calling BA, and is there a chance they might help to move the flights given the cause is illness, or is that a lost cause?

Thanks for any tips/experience in advance.

Assuming there is availability using Avios, then you should be able to change the outbound date only for a £35 per person fee.

I think you should be able to do this online. Have you tried via manage my booking?

First of all, go to MMB in your BAEC account and see if there is an option to change the flights yourself.
Only cancel as a last resort as there is no guarantee that the seats will reappear. However, if this is the only option, BA should be able to cancel the outbound, or possibly remove only the sick passengers, a for £35pp fee.
Be aware though, that any changes will probably require there to be avios seats available on the new date – BA usually won’t budge on this.

Thanks both, that’s very helpful. Manage my booking did the trick. Much appreciated.
