As per a previous thread we’ve now sorted out flights to Asia for a once in a lifetime trip this year.
Despite having status with Hilton, Melia, IHG through Amex we’ve ended up with two relatively big stays at a Hyatt and Accor property.
Any tips for possibly gaining ststus ahead of the trip or things to keep an eye out to maximise the stays given I’ve not stayed a lot with those chains?
Thanks in advance.
Accor – you can buy the Signature plan. But it’ll take 6-8 months to reach gold. If you can stay at Accor hotels, you can reach gold faster.
Curious how you got IHG status using Amex?

Hyatt: Check if the hotel is part of Hyatt Prive, you should receive one category upgrade confirmed on booking, USD 100 credit, and breakfast for two when booking via a Hyatt Prive agent.
Not aware of other options for Hyatt besides some kind HfP posters giving out their “Guest of Honor” certificates from time to time.
For Accor – they have a program tailored to Asia called Accor Plus. It’s a subscription based program with benefits such as 20 free status nights, free hotel night, and other discounts for their Asia properties.
Note that the 20 free status nights can’t be stacked with the Accor Signature plan which @BBbetter mentioned above, or All PLUS Ibis/Voyageur cards, as these give you status points instead.
Accor Platinum status gives you free breakfast at Asia-Pacific hotels so that would be a huge benefit for you, although it might be quite difficult to reach that status prior to your holiday if you’re starting from scratch
ALL PLUS Voyageur and ALL PLUS Ibis give status nights, not status points. They cannot be stacked with Accor Plus but they can be stacked with each other and with ALL Signature.
If you stack Voyageur with Ibis you get 20+10 = 30 nights, so Gold status.
Accor Signature Absolute still makes the most sense though as you are effectively being paid to receive 1,000 status points per month (you are paying €93 to get €100 of reward points; last month it only cost €87 in fact).
Also note that the Accor equivalent of Hyatt Privé, Marriott Luminous/STARS and Hilton Impresario is Hera (needs a real world TA to book it).

Yes you’re right… I got them mixed up. Accor has too many different subscriptions!

And I believe there’s even a separate Accor Plus for China, which gives 20-30 nights (2 levels available), and this can be stacked with the ALL Plus ones to get 50-60 nights!

That’s my bad. I think the IHG status is a legacy from the IHG credit card. Def not from staying in the hotels.
