We want to provide an update regarding Amex payments through Bluechain.

Our merchant agreement with American Express was recently cancelled with limited notice, meaning we are now unable to accept Amex payments via the platform.

Initially, during a period of planned maintenance, we explored solutions that would avoid disruption to our service. However, it’s now clear that this issue will not be resolved swiftly.

We understand how frustrating this is — especially for those of you who rely on Amex for business spending and rewards — and we’re truly sorry for the disruption.

In the meantime, here’s what we’re doing to support you:

✅ We’re continuing to work tirelessly to find a resolution

✅ Visa and Mastercard payments remain fully supported

✅ As a gesture of goodwill, we’re adjusting the fee on Visa and Mastercard payments to 2.3%*, from the 16th May 2025

✅ We’ve also created a guide to alternative business and personal cards that offer rewards like cashback or points, so you can continue getting value from your payments

We remain committed to resolving this as quickly as possible and will keep you updated as soon as we have more news. We also have exciting new functionality, including new payment options, launching soon.

Thank you for your patience and continued support. If you have any questions, please reach out — we’re here to help.

    Best regards,
    The Bluechain Team

    *Fee Reduction Terms:
The temporary reduction of the Visa and Mastercard payment fee to 2.3% is valid from 16 May to 31 May 2025. This offer applies to all payments processed through the Bluechain platform during this period and cannot be applied retroactively. Bluechain reserves the right to amend or withdraw this offer at any time without prior notice.

Yes, real shame. My Business card has a natural monthly spend of under £10k and a bill I could pay through Bluechain every month to get me over the 10k threshold, so it stacked up for me even with the fees.

Looks like they’ve had a sudden falling out with Amex of a rather similar nature to the one Curve had back in the day…
