Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Booking a reward seat

  • Neilg1972 4 posts

I have a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club membership with approximately 123k miles, and wanted to use the miles to book a return flight from LHR to JFK over the Christmas & New Year period.

I have logged on to my Flying Club via the Virgin Atlantic website and have selected my flights using 105k in miles + £994.00 for the Upper Class cabin. I have completed all of the booking process including the payment authorisation in my credit card app (which happens to be a Virgin Atlantic credit card) & click complete purchase. It then says processing booking and after a while it has the following error message:

Sorry, we’re unable to process your request at the moment, please try again later. #7522A

I have spent almost all day trying to book this flight and have tried it multiple times including using different browsers & via their app on ipad & iphone.

Also, when I log on to the Flying Club website, you have to submit a code, and after selecting to pay by points it asks me to log in again & receive another code via email.

I tried to submit a ‘General Enquiry’ via the website and then I have a list of options in their Help Centre. So, I select ‘Flying Club Help’ and it takes me to a page which does not help. There is option to complete a form but when I select the options, there is no form.

In this day & age you would think that it would be easy to book a flight. I found a phone number but why should I have to spend time on the phone when it should take 5-10 minutes to book online.

Has anyone had the same problems? and how was it resolved

    Thanks

Just call – VS CS staff are lovely and helpful!

*You might want to the read the articles here about the impending changes to the programme – I would imagine prices will be higher for Xmas and New Year from November.

    Thank you for your reply.

I will have to give them a call

I am aware of the changes from 30th October 2024 to the Flying Club & have read that you may need to use more points. That’s why I am trying to book now.

    Many thanks

Hopefully this is not the case but I have had this issue (not sure if the message was identical) when there was “phantom” availability. Even calling them, I got quite far into the process until they told me it wasn’t available.

Let us know how you get on.

I managed to find a live chat (see link below), and after going through the bot questions, I was passed to an actual person.

    https://help.virginatlantic.com/us/en/ways-to-contact-us.html

Through the chat, I provided the flight details after asking for them. They came back with the same price & the required miles. I checked the details & they provided me with a secure link to make payment.

I am not sure if this is helpful for you. I understand what you mean. I checked their Reward Seat Checker & it came back with no availability in Upper Class. however when I went to try and book, it said that 4 seats were available.

This isn’t a new phenomenon, unfortunately. It’s good that reward seat availability can be checked, but it isn’t the most exact thing – sometimes, there are too many seats shown, and sometimes too few.

Yeah the whole ” we’ll send you a code to your email address” thing and then when you click on something else on the website you get the ” we’ll send you a code to your email address” repeatedly is very annoying. I’m logged in…. stop sending me codes to check it’s still me… There has to be a better way surely

Please advise which is the correct telephone number to use when booking a VS reward seat travelling either Upper or PE MAN/MCO return. We have a reward seat that expires Jan 26 however thinking we should book seats now before the changes come into play. Any Supportive advise greatly appreciated

I haven’t got it to hand but it’s easy to find on the Virgin website in the contacts section. The Welsh CS agents are very helpful.

    Do you mean a voucher?

I’m sure I’ve only ever spoken to Geordies! But equally very helpful!

Unless you have access to the other numbers by way of Gold or Wings, the only one you need to get to VS is 0344 209 2722.
