Am I right in thinking I would need to phone at midnight to book these open jaw flights using a 2-4-1 voucher. The LHR – MAA flights should be freely available but I know the MLE flights need a midnight call to USA, AUS, JAP or wherever. I have booked an open jaw before and return to MLE both were no problem to do but not sure about trying an open jaw at midnight !!
It’s perfectly possible for an agent to make an open jaw booking, however you might lose valuable seconds for grabbing the MLE return while explaining what you want. You could book LHR-MAA separately then call to add the return from MLE when it’s released, however of course that could also cause problems if you still can’t get the MLE seats and it messes up your travel date, because you’d be on the hook for £70 fee for cancelling the outbound.
Have you considered a viable alternative, such as returning from DXB or DOH, and connecting there from MLE?

I could return MLE – MAA Sri Lankan and MAA – LHR BA but would rather the direct flight from MLE
When are you planning to travel? You could be fine (someone has to get those seats!), I’m just always contingency planning, it’s like I’m hard-wired to need a Plan B, lol.

Planning next Feb – March, had flights booked for next month but family illness has put paid to that so just got refund thru and 241 expires next March. Dates are flexible as nowt booked yet, planning 7 nights Sri Lanka then 4 nights Maldives
That’ll be midnight then, or 1 am once the clocks change. Hopefully you can avoid February half term and the start of the Easter holidays!
Do you have to visit MAA? For MLE, BLR or BOM could be good places to transit or stopover. They both have direct flights to MLE.
