Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Breakfast at IHG when booked on app?

  • 177 posts

My partner tells me that she has seen on her IHG “App” that bookings made on the “App” entitle her to free breakfast.

I do not use and “App Phone”, so have not seen this.

    Anyone else have any experience?

    Thanks in advance

Where is she seeing this? I’m not aware that IHG has a current offer on doing this – hotels.com sometimes have offers where you get a better deal by booking through their app, but you wouldn’t get other IHG benefits by doing it that way.

Never seen this ever and I frequently use the Android App.

It’s on the home page on the iOS app for me but when I click on it, the page is broken. Suspect it’s not meant to be there

Doesn’t appear when I go to offers page

Just spotted it but like @Sam, there’s nothing on the page when I click through.

Thanks all. We got surprise free breakfast yesterday morning at HI Taunton. I suspected this was because she used to be Diamond, but has not been since March. Cannot remember when we booked, but I would guess that the booking had Diamond on it.

More likely goodwill. IHG front desks are able to see your live status and future IHG stays. I do wonder how they square that off with data minimisation expectations.

I’ve had a number of bookings recently where I have booked room only, but been told at reception the booking included breakfast – at the NEC Crowne Plaza, booked two rooms room only, reception said that breakfast was included, and they were running a promo week giving the welcome points to all members, so only option for my welcome ammenity left was the drink!

    It happens occasionally.

Whilst the perception is that there is a seamless link between booking a room online and it appearing on the individual hotel’s booking system, the truth can be very different. It is, sometimes, someone at the hotel taking a report off one system and then rekeying it onto the local system. That’s where mistakes happen. (Even now, some travel agent bookings are still sent by fax…)

We used to stay at the Indigo in Newcastle on Tyne several years ago.
Always booked the cheapest room only, non-refundable rate, was always told that breakfast was included when checking in – and a very decent, cooked to order breakfast too.
