Hi, I’m currently in the process of seeing my best options for collecting avois or virgin points by means of credit card.. now as my credit rating is not good and my wife has a good rating but no history , we are unable to get any credit cards…. My mother has credit cards and is eligible for all of them on the market.. is there anyway she can collect points against our flying memberships or once she collects points she can use them to pay for our flights…. Any help is greatly appreciated many thanks x

Yes this would be possible (with avios at least) if she has a BAEC account and is in a Household account with you – you probably need to do a bit of research into how this works before going ahead with applications.

She would not be able to “donate” a companion voucher should she earn one from the BAPP Amex as she would need to travel on the booking.

    Hi Mark

It works differently across both schemes.

Avios has Household Accounts, so you could join one of these with your Mum, combine her credit card Avios with whatever you earned via flying or other routes, and then use the Avios for flights for yourself.

Virgin is different. You cannot merge people together (unless you have Gold status) so your Mum would need to earn 100% of the miles needed for your flights. She can then issue the ticket for you from her account.
