Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club British Airways multi city booking

  • 5 posts

I am trying to book a multi city flights trip on BA.com.

But on the payment page, it shows my Avios balance but I don’t have an option to use them. Any help please why?

Given the low amount of avios versus the cash rate, it might be the case that BA does not allow it as it’s not enough to redeem them at the lowest possible value). Using Avios to reduce cash ticket is usually a bad deal.

Are there any non BA flights on the booking? That usually precludes avios being used.

Also shocked that for a £4k fare you’ll only earn 2,717 avios!

That pricing looks odd – I’d expect it to earn more than 2717 avios. Is it flight only or a package?

    Thanks for all the replies.

2 out of the 4 flights are Qatar airways.

Yes my balance of Avios points is low but I have 55,000 AMEX points which I was looking to convert to Avios. But before I convert them I wanted to check if I could actually use Avios.

A dummy booking for a £4k-ish flight in Club World offers me a discount of £280 for 56k avios. Given that 47.5K avios (plus surcharge) can get you a one-way PE redemption seat to the Caribbean or Maldives, for example, using them to reduce the cost of a cash booking is poor value.

Rob explains it further in this article:

    Thank you for the reply.

So what’s the best way to try and use my 55,000 Amex points for this BA flight booking?

It’s hard to say without knowing your route and preferred cabin.

Are you committed to collecting avios, or do you just want to find a use for the Amex points you have currently?
