Buying points with a room booking

If I buy additional points as an option available with a room booking do these count towards status? I know if I just buy points separately they don’t count but i am going to be a couple thousand points short this years from a status upgrade so would buy some if this option counts.

There is nothing on the hotel booking page to say if the points count towards status and the hotel themselves just told me to contact IHG…

Yes they do @somerset_guy if it’s the extra points per night for a fixed fee per night that you are referring too. It’s a good way of maintaining status as year end approaches. I’m on second night of six night stay at the moment which will harvest additional 30,000 to maintain my Diamond status.

On the app it should say “Get more elite-qualifying points”, and on the website “Add Elite-qualifying IHG One Rewards bonus points”. It’s clear enough that they count towards status.

Well, in fact my search promises “Your stay earns you a total of 1,017 pints. Add more pints to maximise your earnings” but I’m not sure I could handle more than 1,017 pints on a one-night stay.

Thanks for the responses, I’ll go ahead and book. The bit that concerned me was there is no mention of elite-qualifying on the website, it states:

“Get more points. Your stay earns 2,541 IHG One Rewards points. Add more to maximise your earnings per night.”

However, now checking the app it does state elite-qualifying.
