My question is, if I book two outbound seats (using two vouchers so that I can attempt to add on the return leg when released), what happens if I miss out on the return leg as I’m booking a popular route? What I specifically mean is that I call to book the return leg but it’s sold out and this continues for a few days until there are no return seats available on the dates I want.
I can find an alternative route back with another airline but will BA return one of the vouchers and use the second one to cover off the two outbound flights? Or is booking the outbound at 355 days with two vouchers the risk you take as if you can’t book the inbound you’re effectively wasting half of each voucher?

Hopefully you will get the return flights you want so that your foresightful planning will work out. In the event it doesn’t, the agent should be able to remove one of the vouchers, but it does require landing upon an agent who knows what to do.
Sorry if this has already been asked and answered elsewhere.
Looking at using a Barclays voucher to go to Faro in Club.
On line, if I try to select outbound from Gatwick, return to Heathrow, it says the return flight is ineligible!
Anyone knows if they can do this on the phone?
@AlexG,
This may be because the EuroFlyer services from LGW aren’t included – this has been posted about a couple of times. You’ll probably have to find a service from LHR, or if applicable, call BA and ask if they can the voucher to upgrade 2 people on the inbound – I think this should technically be possible as your overall journey is starting in the UK.I’ve tried a dummy booking for a one way flight online, as the return isn’t available yet due to the 355 day window. I’m booking for two people and hence understand that to allow the return to be credited to the Barclays vouchers correctly, I should book using two vouchers rather than one (or the voucher is deemed used and BA can’t use the second half of each voucher to discount the return leg once that’s booked).
The BA site only allows me to select one voucher though? Even that page is messed up as if I tick and untick a voucher I can’t select it again (or another one) without going back and coming back into the page. How do I do this online correctly or is the only route to use two vouchers for the one way over the phone?
Someone mentioned you can tick both Barclays vouchers in the app. Don’t have two yet to verify but worth a try.
Just tried it and it doesn’t work. The app loads the website within the app and it has the same issue, you can only tick one and it’s buggy if you untick and try again (you have to go back and click back in to try again).
Successfully nabbed Tokyo tickets after calling up but the agent wasn’t that familiar with the terms and didn’t let me use 2 vouchers to save the other half for the return. In this case I didn’t argue as I’m more likely to book a return with another carrier so I get a night flight rather than enduring another 14-15 hour daytime flight. Also I would’ve lost the seats if I hung up. A little frustrating that these vouchers only really work with ease if you’re picking a less sought after destination and can book the return online in one go.
Well done on getting the flights you wanted. That’s the main thing, and also looking on the bright side you can get a night flight home and still have another voucher to use.
I also haven’t been able to select two vouchers in app. I think someone got lucky, or more likely they were they at crossed purposes when reporting success.
A bit of a nonsense that the agent wouldn’t let you(!) use two vouchers. I think this is a further sign that the IT just isn’t set up to allow two vouchers on a single booking. I also think mentioning using “half a voucher” is likely to confuse agents. It’s a shorthand I have used here before, but for the average agent and, I believe, for the IT, you are wanting to make a booking “using” the voucher.
When you are feeling time pressure T-355 on prime routes, you rightly say it is frustrating that even agents apparently need to do two separate bookings to use these vouchers in the way most people will want.
I think the reader who posted that they managed to use 2 vouchers online logged onto the ba. com website on his phone rather than using the app.
BA IT is very weird, I have been able to change flights via MMB when logging in on my phone when I’ve never been able to do it on my laptop.
Ah, ok. I looked but couldn’t find the post in question.
I’ve only got one voucher on my BAEC a/c atm. The next is sitting with Barclaycard waiting to be triggered.
When I trigger the voucher I will experiment and report back. Unless of course anyone else feels like providing a data point on this.I’m fairly sure you need two separate bookings, one voucher each. VS works like this.
It’s definitely one voucher each (if you want to book returns).
Some uncertainty remains over whether you can get a phone agent to do this in one booking (one positive report last year), and whether any part of BA IT might allow you to select 2 vouchers at once (again one potential report). Both would be useful, especially if trying to book at midnight.Quick question pls and sorry if I’ve missed it on this thread … I’m trying to use an upgrade voucher for LHR/BNA with availability that is out in Business and return in PE. The search allows you to select only economy (this showing PE availability), or Premium economy (thus showing business).
Is this a case where I need to call them as the system isn’t flexible enough to let me mix and match, or is a mixture of cabins not possible with a voucher (I thought it was possible) ?
There is outbound availability in J and return in W for my dates, so should have been fine, btw.
Thanks.

Yes, you’ll have to call.
Probably no..but are there any workarounds to the BC voucher starting with BA outside of the UK. Would be good to get red eye flights in Club.
Is your actual trip starting from the UK? It is possible to use it to upgrade 2 people on the inbound leg of a return booking. So your outbound could be in Y or PE, then use the voucher to upgrade the inbound to PE or CW. Needs a phone call, AFAIK.
Not sure if this is a right place for this question but I will be receiving an upgrade voucher in 2 months. I do not actually have any use for it and I know people can get better value than 7k Avios. So I thought, maybe someone would like to trade it? As far as I know I can make a booking using a voucher for anyone so should be possible unless I am violating some other T&C?

While I understand why you might wish to do this, it is fraught with practical difficulties even before you start running into breaches of the terms that will upset BA.
You have to book from your BAEC account, so you would need to add the traveller to yours friends & family list for the period from booking to travel; I’m not sure how that might work for either party. Who will pay for the (low) cash element of the booking? You, who will then expect to be reimbursed or will the traveller give you all their card details? How will you get paid for the Avios which is going to be the breach? How will you or the traveller deal with changes or cancellation?
1. I do not have BA Household account, just a regular one.
2. I would be happy to pay the cash component and get reimbursed.
I agree this is quite a complicated process.
Probably easier to execute with a friend or family. Still, it may be difficult to settle up the Avios balance.Has anyone managed to book a one way with two vouchers for four people?
I’m getting the same issue reported above about only being able to tick one voucher check box.
Also I know the t&c day you can use 2 vouchers in one booking but I don’t know if this is just for a return for 2 pax.Try a) booking using a phone (website though, not app), as the IT is reported to be more amenable or b) calling BA.
Hi
Do we know if we can add a return to the Barclaycard voucher. Looking to book 3 people tonight outbound only, with a 241 voucher and an upgrade voucher- separate bookings
Can I book the returns online rather than calling and get the avios adjusted for the barclaycard voucher – I know I can for the 241.
Thanks
Ben
I don’t know if anyone has actually tried this, it may be a case of cancelling and rebooking when the seat (hopefully) goes back into the inventory. Be aware a few people have reported BA CS refusing to refund 50% avios recently so you may need to HUACA, or try chat/Xwitter.
