Hi,
I’ve received the Amex Reward Credit Card in preparation for cancelling my Gold card and keeping the MR points. However, I notice that there are two balances of MR points – a separate balance against each card. If I cancel the Gold card will the MR points be merged into the ARCC MR points balance?
I would call Amex and get them to merge the accounts before you close the Gold.
Hiya.
No is the answer. When I opened my ARC (also with a view of cancelling but then Deliveroo credits changed the maths) I put my gold card under the “do you have an existing Amex” question and the points from the ARC seamlessly go to the same MR account.
You’ll need to call them and have them merge the MR accounts.
On a similar note, even if you were to cancel a Gold in favour of a BAPP or indeed nothing at all, you get 30 days from closing to do something with the MR. They are not lost instantly.
Well, call centre said each card has it’s own MR balance and can’t be merged. I have to use up the balance separately on each.
