Booked some cash ( handful of Avios for discount) Econ flights on Friday evening ( yes many refreshes needed given IT issues). Would have preferred to have used Avios reward flights but that was crashing even more.

Anyway by Saturday morning I could see some Business reward flights a couple of days prior and was happy to add two days to my holiday, so booked them.

Called BA who said I could cancel at no charge as within 24 hours, and would get full refund. … and she processed the cancellation, and promised an email in 5 mins.

I can see cancelled, but no email… and Avios points not refunded yet…. how long should I wait before I chasing for the credits of Avios and to credit card ?

Avios should refund right after the cancellation, if not, you need to call again, and find an agent knows how to process the cancellation properly. It happened to me a few times, as I needed the avios to book another flight.
If not urgent, you can just wait for a few days and see if the back office picks up the refund requet.

You will need to chase. Check to see if cash elements refunded or pending but in my experience few agents know how to do this correctly. I had a series of cancellations earlier in the year and it took some weeks to get sorted.

I had to call to chase when the Avios weren’t refunded instantly. I called a few hours after the cancellation as I needed the Avios to make a new booking. The agent authorised the cancellation and the Avios were then refunded instantly.
