Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Cancellation expense: arrival hotel

Not a question, more of an FYI as I never knew this.

I had HND-LHR cancel on me last week, rerouted via FRA. Arrival was the next day but didn’t get into Heathrow until ~2230.

As I have a ~2 hour drive from Heathrow I thought after 2 flights and little sleep it’s best I get a hotel to catch some sleep in LHR before setting off.

This was covered by BA as expenses. It surprised me as the flight landed on 2 hours later than my original (although + 1 day) so assumed they’d kick back with “not much different than before to require a hotel” but my justification was a connection meant more travel time and more exhaustion.

All expenses covered and compensation agreed less than 24 hours – Fair play to BA!

That’s a good result. BA will often pay these sort of expenses that they aren’t strictly required to pay. It’s all in the asking, so well done!

Yeah, Claim has been submitted and accepted by BA 🙂
