Flight to MAN-LHR-BLR booked using companion voucher. Return leg LHR-MAN cancelled and offered a later flight with 8 hours wait at LHR (original wait was 2 hours). An earlier flight BLR-DOH-MAN is available with QR that would get us into MAN at roughly the same time as the cancelled LHR-MAN flight. BA declining to rebook us onto QR stating the companion voucher cannot be used on non-BA metal. I accept the voucher cannot be used on QR but do BA have duty of care to get us to the destination for the time originally booked, and hence should book us on alternative flight regardless ? TIA for opinions.
I would have thought that a companion voucher can’t be used to book a QR flight, but once it is booked and ticketed they should allow a change to get you to your original destination in a timely manner.
In fact, years ago we were booked and ticketed on a companion voucher on a date where there was a BA strike, they rebooked us onto AA without a problem.
