Forums Payment cards American Express Cancelling whilst waiting for statement credits

  • 147 posts

    Hi folks

As the title suggests, I’m wondering about doing this with the platinum. The credits are worth around £75, so it’s a trade off given the fee. But technically speaking, should these still post after a card has been cancelled to leave a credit balance or do you kiss goodbye when you go?

I might take the offer to downgrade to Gold if given: might that change the equation?

    Thanks for any wisdom

    D

T&Cs of offers stipulate that once a card is cancelled, you forfeit all pending statement credits.

Are you close to your new fee period, there isn’t a pro rata refund now (as I understand it) so is it worthwhile doing before the credits appear?

For existing card holders. Not contractually available for new card holders, doesn’t mean they won’t pro rats refund.

Can confirm you loose the credits when cancelled if they haven’t already posted.

Thanks for the confirmation everyone. I’ll hang on for a few days more. If it at least one of them posts that would be something.
