Forums Payment cards American Express Card offers on BAPP card

I’ve held the BAPP card for 2 statements now and since having the card I’ve only had 5 card offers, I’ve contacted Amex via live chat as I think 5 offers within 2 months isn’t right , they say I need to spend more and then the offers will come through . I’ve spent 8k on the card , how much more do I have to spend to get the offers ?

I’m just coming up to the 2nd statement date and currently have 9 on mine. It will build up over time and there isn’t anything you can do to make more offers appear quicker.

There is no clear answer for this. But I have observed that spending at a variety of merchants rather than amount of spending tends to be followed by more offers.

The spend has been over numerous merchants , I also have a gold reward card for the same amount of time , spend only a few hundred on that and that was only 2 shops and have had 30 offers , it’s odd

I have a long-standing Green charge card also on my account with currently over 80 offers on it. Whether true or not, I find that when you have more than one card on your account, it does have a negative effect on the amount of offers on recently added cards.

I suspect it’s all a bit random. My longest standing card is my BAPP and I have something like 20 offers on it. I have 80-90 on my Gold and have had over 100 in the past. I have a similarly high number on my platinum supplementary card. And then I have a free Amex Rewards Card which also only has about 20 offers but I have had some crackers on it that I haven’t had on any of the others,

In terms of my spending, I never use the platinum unless it has a specific offer I want, I very rarely use the ARC (I keep it in my gym bag so 90% of use is at the Sheraton Edinburgh’s cafe) and my spend is pretty even between the Gold and BAPP although it probably favours Gold as I generally pause on the BAPP to avoid hitting the £10k too early.

And, of course, the best offer I’ve ever had was on a card I had literally never used which was a supplementary on my wife’s now cancelled BAPP. I only got it for the bonus Avios for adding a supplementary card. She didn’t have the offer and I didn’t have it either but it was worth £750 in cold hard cash on something we’d already booked.

My experience is that it takes quite a while to build up and over multiple cards you will always have one that has many more offers than the other.

My longest account is now a BAPP (used to be blue) and I have about 104 saved offers (I tend to save all of them just not to have to scroll down for new offers) whilst on the more recent Platinum (Chargecard) I only have 41, but when I first opened this one account, for the first two months I did not get any offer at all (aside of the standard £100 HN and £150 + £150 dine in credits that I have had to ask to manually add). It simply takes a while to build up.

Never sure whether it is better to save all offers or not.

Maybe by selecting them you are showing a reaction?
