Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Changing a 241 Booking?

Question for those more knowledgeable than me.

I have a 241 Booking that I want to change to a different destination, because of the way booked (Covid voucher and all those complications) I can only change by phone which makes it difficult to grab availability for a new destination. As I am Avios rich, could I make a new booking online using Avios, then call up, get a charges (£’s) and Avios refund for the original booking and transfer the 241 to the new booking and get a 50% Avios refund for using the 241?

I understand if this works I will need to pay a 2 X £35 cancellation fee for the original booking?

    Appreciate any advice re this.

There is a risk here if you have an expired voucher that is only ‘alive’ through an FTV as by doing it the way you want, this may not continue to be the case.

Thanks and good point as took a long call and much pushing to actually use it.

Also I’m not sure you can retrospectively apply a 2-4-1 voucher to another booking which is effectively what you want to do. You can usually get a refund of Avios in the way you’re describing if you are adding the return to an existing outbound booking.

If you do want to change destination I’d just call and do it over the phone but as @JDB says that may result in the underlying 2-4-1 voucher expiring in the process.
