There have been comments recently about the “good manners” of passengers on certain flights remaining seated until it’s the turn of their row to disembark.

Well on my CRJ900 this morning, apart from 3 pax the rest remained politely seated until it was their row, then the majority who were elderly, overweight or carrying a child tried their best to extricate their belongings from the tiny bins on the CRJ900. I reckon it doubled the time to deplane, as nobody could help them get their bags down.

Then we had to wait behind 6 wheelchair passengers whilst they were pushed up the jetbridge – one of the pushers slipped, and because the ramp was so steep the chair nearly ran back over her because she couldn’t handle the weight!

Was on a DL flight once and an FA over the PA was very insistent that a passenger sit down as we were still taxing at LHR. Took two or three goes to get her to comply. I think the words “law enforcement” were used at one point to get compliance. Didn’t hear the end as they cut it off in business class. Spoilsports.

But last year I was coming back from AMS and the Captain came on and told people not to get up as there were “additional procedures” to be followed even though we had parked.

A minute or two later several Met Police and Border Force officers boarded and went straight to a specific seat to escort someone in row 3 off for a chat that clearly wasn’t going to involve tea let alone biscuits!

A couple of flights I’ve also been on, there has been an announcement requesting passengers to remain seated, because authorities are going to enter the aircraft for some reason! And everyone complied with the instruction.

Maybe this announcement should be used more often, as this ridiculous behavior in a race to disembark a plane is becoming an all too often occurrence.

Hello, sorry if this has been asked a million times but has the Royal Air Maroc route of using MMB to change the FF number on a BA flight to a different FF scheme (for status reasons) now closed?

I couldn’t get it to work on app or web page or in various devices and in the end had to get it changed at the lounge by the lounge dragon who printed me a new BP and then let me in. Any other methods? If I needed the baggage could I change it at check in (but be forced to use the main desk?) or can you phone up (seems to take forever to get through)

Yes, interestingly the very same when the BA Club changes came into force. It’s almost as if it was deliberate.

A new method has been found on Fiji airways that’s been discussed on FlyerTalk. Suspect its days are numbered now also.

Changing it in the lounge won’t work as they are doing so in the check in system. The boarding pass may even show the programme you want to credit too but if your BA number is still in the reservation it will override the checkin system.

I understand the only failsafe method is to call BA have the BA number removed and then end the transaction. If you then go to BA.com you are able to input your desired programme.

I am still chasing flights from early May with AY so it’s not an easy process. From the comments on flyertalk there are a great many issues with credit to BAs own programme let alone others. Bottom line is it was ill thought out and badly implemented. It way to complex and neither BA staff or their dreadful IT can cope with it

Anyone done the BA best price guarantee lately?

Put one in last night, went to check this morning and the page is headed

    Your case details

    Case Number #0

    Delays, cancellations, and diversions

Which doesn’t seem the right place but I followed the links on the BPG page which included putting in details of the OTA I saw the lower fare on.

Yes, did 6 of these during the last sale. That is the link that I used. They were all paid yesterday but took 3 weeks rather than 3 days to process. I was beginning to think that BA were having a re-think about the whole BPG thing as the latest ‘enhancement’ as getting a Business class return to Belfast for effectively £70 (BA price £191, OTA £131 so £120 back as an e-voucher) may have raised a revenue flag somewhere!

BA Online Chat in advance, I did it a few days ago for Gatwick Tenerife and was able to select seats. The booking still appears in my BA account but with the RAM FF number attached.

Something needs to be done. Earlier this month I flew BA to Oslo. We were still taxiing to the gate when a large number of passengers rushed past me to get off the plane. The crew said nothing.

Flew Vueling last week for the first time. On arrival at Santiago de Compostela the crew announced we would disembark by row and we should wait until our row was announced. A crew member from the back of the plane moved forward and stood near row 5. Someone then got up and opened a locker. Another FA at the rear of the plane rushed forward to close the locker and told the passenger to sit down. No one else got up until their turn. We were called in groups of 5 and the FA moved backwards when the rows were called, so no one could rush forward. It seemed to work very well. Don’t know whether this is airline policy or whether it’s because they knew regular passengers would rush forward to avoid a long wait at immigration! We will find out on our return.

On arrival at the border there was no separation for EU/non EU, families etc. just one long queue winding around the immigration hall with 2 border officials checking passports. There was no way to jump the queue and it took well over an hour for us to get through and we were in row 20. We were the only non Schengen plane there and were lucky that the Ryanair plane from Stansted landed just after ours.

    @Metty

Thank for that. If it gets rejected then it gets rejected but I’d want it because I didn’t provide something they needed rather that because they think I used the wrong work flow.

On the grounds that my Avios balance is never going to hit zero, I paid for a cup of tea with Avios. Flight attendant took my BAC number and surname. The next day the head of household had an email that some of the household Avios had been used. The Avios were deducted from my account and then credits applied back to my account for the other household members contribution.

Which got me thinking, does the person have to be on board? Could I use the pay with Avios option to utilise remaining Avios in other accounts that I have third party authority for? I manage a couple of accounts for elderly relatives, with only remainder Avios in them, this would be a way of using them up.

If you’re asking can you provide someone else’s BAC number and surname, well technically and obviously No because you are not authorised to do that (and there is no way to authorise it, nominee not applicable in that sense). Would it work, can’t say, but extremely embarrassing if it doesn’t.

How do you know whether or not they are cross-referencing the name against the passenger list? Trying it when travelling with someone else with a different name might answer that.

In many cases you can see that you’re at a remote stand so it makes even less sense, as the impatient pax are basically fighting for the right to be first on the bus.

    827 posts

But you have to be first on the bus, so that you can stand in the doorway to try and get off first, thus obstructing everyone else behind you waiting to get on!

It’s not possible. There’s no airside route between terminals unless you’re on a connecting flight between them in which case they bus you between them.

I think I was on the same BA flight – the chances of it happening on two separate AMS flights to someone in row three are very low.

I was told on Tuesday this week that the current escape lounge closes 9th June, but that BA customers will be accommodated in the space that was once the bmi lounge (i.e. turn left and downstairs out of security).

Hopefully that will be open on the 10th the comment was also made that upon moving to T2 BA will be accommodated in a new Airline Invitation Only along with Qatar and Virgin passengers (presumably Aer Lingus UK too) and that it is a fantastic space with the highest standards and offering so watch this space.

This started at some point earlier this year and happens as standard, although I haven’t experienced an FA standing in the aisle to block exit.

It does make things a little calmer and I prefer it to everybody standing up and pushing over each other to get bags.

Vueling tip – rows 2-5 have more legroom than BA CE, if that is important to you.

@ChrisBCN – thanks for that tip – very useful as OH is 6ft 3in and son 6ft 6in. We thought we were lucky to get 2 seats together. We booked only 4 days in advance, as I decided last minute that I didn’t want to spend my birthday in the UK!

My daughter and a large group of friends flew with BA to AGP yesterday across both the LHR flights and all on different PNRs. She is bronze and managed to get a window seat. I think the flights must have been full because some couldn’t check in. She was worried as she was the only one of the group on an Avios ticket. But all turned out well in the end and they all travelled spread out across the planes.

Our Vueling experience so far was better than expected and if the return is as good, will definitely consider flying with them again.

I had a very good flight on Vueling recently in a space seat at row 3 with group 1 boarding and deplaning as described.
