First post for today!
We are due to stay at Sheraton Heathrow on Wednesday for our trip to Miami and Orlando.
We have gold status with Marriott which provides a room upgrade subject to availability.
The Marriott app has promoted us this morning to check in but the room stated for check in is the original room we booked.
Should we check in now or wait until we arrive on Wednesday to see if we get an upgrade?
Thanks in advance!
I never check-in in advance – there’s absolutely nothing in it for you but the hotel gets your money. I rarely get upgrades as a titanium and I always ask. About 95% of US Marriott customers are gold or above. Check availability in advance but nice but firm. Good Luck.
@davedent I messaged the hotel directly.
Their response was “we have noted your request for an upgrade. At this time, we are unable to confirm an upgrade for you but we’ll keep an eye on availability and let you know if anything changes”.
Could that be because I asked a few days early?
I’m thinking I should ask again on Wednesday when we check in.
Can you add a bag after booking with norse for the same price as pre booking?

If I haven’t been upgraded on the app then I always ask at check-in. Check room availability at check-in and point out your status and available rooms. If all else fails state ‘ what’s the point in an empty room and an unhappy customer ?’. At the end of the day it’s an airport hotel – they will always be busy and don’t care if you return. Emailing in advance is always a good strategy (copy in GM or head of rooms) and sometimes lets you cancel the booking and go somewhere else if there’s no chance of an upgrade.

Have you checked in yet?

No, not even booked yet. Weighing up Norse v BA v Virgin economy at the moment.

A whacky idea I know but you could perhaps check the Norse website / google “Norse baggage fees”?

Looking for advice on Abu Dhabi connection
Booked to fly DUB to NRT via AUH with Etihad
Flight schedule has been changed for the 3rd time sine booking leaving 1hr 40 connection
This is more than the advised minimum connection time but outward flight has a terrible punctuality record and is frequently 40 mins to 1hr late and sometimes more. Should I be worried?Looking for advice on Abu Dhabi connection

The MCT at for Etihad flights at Abu Dhabi is 45 minutes, so even if your flight from DUB is 1hr late, you should be OK.
As you are starting in the EU, you are covered by EC261. If you miss the connection for anything other than exceptional circumstances, then Etihad will be on the hook for €600, and will need to put you up in a hotel and feed you. I would be happy with that, and would make sure that a 24 hour delay did not mess up my plans in Japan.
I don’t know how easy it is to get compensation from Etihad though.
Haven’t booked a Hampton in a while and got the usual upsell/upgrade email. Was quite surprised at the offers:
Historic Main Street view +$14
This room has a view of Historic Main Street and is along the event parade route.
Calmer traffic in the night makes this a very sought after side of the building.Corner Room +16
Make sure you only have one neighbor instead of both sides.A completely blank box which costs $24 for the entire stay. No clue what it is. Pic of a clock, might be early check in.
Then another blank box which has a pic of “late checkout” but no clue what time that would be at $41.
Utterly absurd to send an email with broken options and no information in several sections. Hilton are at the bottom of my choice list these days and this reminds me why.
I’ve just received two emails from whichever third party IHG use for that, inviting me to upgrade my room at the Plymouth Crowne Plaza on two ‘upcoming stays’.
Trouble is I was there last week and cancelled the other two alternative bookings after I confirmed my plans eight weeks ago!

Not sure how or what has happened, but was tracking a return one way cash flight from Cancun in October (using an upgrade voucher for outbound leg for 2 of us), and the price for last 2 months has been pretty consistent around $1600 including yesterday, suddenly today its dropped down to $1100, which was much more reasonable , sometimes it pays to wait
Which airline is this? Is it a reasonable price compared with a cash return?
It’s on BA
Current Economy return cash price is £1300 for the dates we had to fly
It is for my OH friends wedding so couldn’t be too flexibleSo I think £1300 + 95,000 Avios + Upgrade Voucher for Business outbound and Economy back wasn’t too bad
I did price that up as well which came to £3300
