I stayed at Viceroy last year. How are you finding it? Never really stayed anywhere with a private pool before. The place was spotless.

There was so many staff, and nothing was ever any trouble. I’m assuming it’s still the same. The owner, the Australia lady is nice to talk to also.

Yes, it’s a fantastic property. The staff is great. One of them knows the owner of the closest laundry and he offered to ring them up and arrange the collection – website didn’t work and we were going to walk.

This is my second stay with a private pool after Oberoi. This one has an amazing view, Oberoi’s was bigger than expected – 40 sq m!

Does anyone know how early you can (same day) check in for a BA short haul flight in J at Gatwick?

(If the trains are on time, I will be nearly 4 hours early getting there.)

Not sure if there is a ‘too early’ limit for J check in, but four hours certainly isn’t a problem (assuming we are talking about during the day, not the first flight in the morning 😀).

Thanks Andrew, not flown from LGW for a long time.

If you’re used to LHR you may be pleasantly surprised by the LGW Galleries lounge.

Sat in LGW Galleries south lounge ahead of our flight to Malta, presently delayed….

Anyhoo, there’s a family in here transiting from the States to Málaga, and another group heading to Athens. Both groups and personable, but vocal in the fact they have been here since early morning and their flights aren’t for a few hours yet (scheduled, not delayed).

Has BA relaxed their rules on how long people can avail of the lounges? I haven’t asked the question and in truth the lounge, whilst busier earlier, is now reasonably quiet, just struck me as odd they’d let people in for that length of time.

(Spending 8+ in a lounge is perhaps a question best posed on another thread 🙃)

Good time to buy points sold in USD?

Before Reeves abandons fiscal constraints or [insert any bad news] and £ plunges?

Wow. I hadn’t looked at the USD for a couple of weeks.

It’s not only the USD that Trump is trashing. GBP is at a 9 year high against the CAD. I good time to visit our cousins in the “51st State”. Shame BA don’t have too many flights there.

Does anyone know if you can be denied boarding (in general, but British Airways in particular) if too immobile or too disabled?
Thinking of a wheelchair bound person who is totally immobile; unable to move their arms and legs and there is a need to emergency exit the aircraft.

    @Optimus Prime.
Please do a trip report when you’re back.
Particularly interested in day excursions out of Ubud.
Are you going to do a swing?

Just checked in for my flight tomorrow using the app. Wasn’t given the option to select a seat 🙁 Is that normal? (They have allocated one, which I now cannot change). (BA short haul from Gatwick)

@Aston100 perhaps check BA’s fitness to fly requirements.

Afternoon from BRS where after a journey on the FlixBus ( surprising ok ) and and an hour in the Escape lounge ( having been placed in the virtual queue ) I’m I’m waiting to board my flight to Bergerac. The flight looked reasonably empty ( but clearly heaving ) and we’re nowhere near departing on time . Hoping OH will still be there when I arrive ( parking up a great big Motorhome is a bit of a challenge !!)

Morning all. I have a trip to the US for work that has been put back from this week to mid July. I was planning on using my Amex abroad dining credit this weekend.

I do have a few days holiday in NYC late July – anyone know of anywhere in NYC where you can buy gift cards now, that would trigger the abroad spend please?

Part of the problem is the list changes at the drop of a hat. Rosemarys has 2 or 3 locations included now, 2 I think. But not all. Quality Meats and Quality Italian have been on the list for as long as I can recall. Worth calling up to see what they can do. I am in midtown Manhattan till tomorrow evening if that’s any help in your quest.

Yes, I’m in Toronto at the moment and it’s surprisingly good value….and non of the hideous tipping culture that exists elsewhere

Even if a person could move their arms and legs, there are plenty wheelchair bound people who couldn’t exist a plane unaided.

Has anyone used Mobile Passport Control (MPC) at Chicago ? The last couple of times I have been there the immigration queue took well over an hour, possibly nearer two.

So any tips, recommendations greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hi
Looking for some advise, trying to use my companion voucher for a trip to Boston in Sept, business class. There seems to still be a fair amount of availability going out but none coming back. Do you think some more would become available or is it best to try and book out to Boston and return from jfk. Has anyone done this and if so how, rail, bus or plane. Looking to return around the 23rd

Not worth coming back in CW, tbh, the flight is about 5 hours! If you can get PE (or even Y if you can get decent seats) on the morning departure that would be fine and save you some avios and cash.

*The am departure is so much better for your body clock, I thoroughly recommend booking that if you can.
