@lostintheworld Thanks for the heads up re AA MMB availability again, can see my booking now.
2 things about this booking / episode have me thinking if this was BA, there would be uproar but on AA, there doesn’t seem to be too much noise:
1. Our flight time has changed again. I know AA are notorious for this, but this is the 4th schedule change since booking. What was a not too bad 7.14am departure is now a 6.34am departure.
2. We’ve not been able to MMB or view it even in the AA app or website for weeks. If this was in the BA app (consistently) I dread to think of the criticism.
Uproar where? If you mean on here, there aren’t many readers with AA flights booked at any one time.
Yes, notorious. Never book an AA flight which could mess up any other travel plans you might have! My last one had several time changes and in the event departed 2 hours late.Morning from Madrid!
I need to book a Japan internal flight and my usual strategy is to use Avios with JL (£0 cost so can cancel anytime).
However, ANA has a lot more flights to where I want to go. As I have AMEX points I was wondering if it was worth it converting to Miles&More and then using that to book ANA. Has anyone got experiences doing this? (I don’t even know if I can check availability first … ending up with useless Lufty miles is the worst of my scenarios)
Good morning from the Southbank. There’s a virgin plane sat on the embankment! Not sure what they’re up to, and it’s just where the IBM office is used to be, in between the oxo Tower and National Theatre. Any ideas?
I meant general uproar, if most of the public couldn’t manage their flights which is a necessary requirement for most travellers nowadays. I wasn’t just referring to the bubble on here.
The earlier flight times work in our favour in this occasion as we’ll have been in NY for only 2 days prior so still up quite early. Fingers crossed for no delays on this one like yours.

My first instinct was that some pilots will just park anywhere but on reflection, it’s probably this:

Meanwhile, energising travel sounds of jet engines will stir up that holiday spirit feeling alongside a bespoke blend of scents inspired by exciting Virgin Atlantic destinations including the Caribbean, Mumbai and New YorkLove the marketing spin. Don’t we all buy expensive noise cancelling headphones to get away from the irritating drone of jet engines.
Has anyone got the Virgin Atlantic flights to Seoul to be available on air miles?
Would be interested to know the cost
I just tired to pre book with an Amex Priority pass for the No 1 lounge at LHR T3, only to be told it’s “at capacity” no chance of a walk in then!
Not much value in a free pass that you can’t use.
Morning.
I’ve just successfully applied for the Royal Jordanian status match, giving me the equivalent status of BA Bronze. I understand I can now receive free seat selection for all of my party @ 7 days out. (My wife and I are travelling) I guess I need to contact BA to change my FF number to the Royal Jordanian one.Quick Question – My wife is also a BAEC club member and I note that her number is showing in the booking also, do i need to ask BA to remove this number so that I will be offered free seat selection for both of us or does this not matter?
I appreciate any relies.
Thanks
Can you not select the seats via the RJ website? But yes, if one person has status, they can select seats for everyone else on the booking.
Thanks for the reply.
Apologies, I didn’t give enough info. I booked the flights through BA. As both my wife and I have a BAEC account and both numbers had pulled through to the booking, I just wondered if i may need to remove her number so that we get the free seat selection under my RJ number?

Flights aren’t on sale yet, was supposed to be yesterday.
@Mayfield, yes I knew what you meant. From my recent experience, I would initially try just using MMB on the RJ website to select your seats at T-7. It shouldn’t matter how they were booked. Presumably you have an RJ account and can therefore also see your booking there?

Slightly frustrating call with the BA Club line this morning.
Called to amend the outbound of a 241 to a different destination, all went smoothly until the payment of the change fee. Needs to be an AMEX, which admittedly I didn’t realise was the case for £35 amendment fees.
I don’t have the card anymore – agent heavily implied – nudge nudge wink wink – if I could get use of another card it would be doable.
Quick call to a family member for the details of another BA Amex, and I called back. Perhaps I was an idiot to admit that the card wasn’t mine but that was where it all fell apart. Flat out refused to do it. Is there some magic passphrase I am supposed to use to get it to work? Or straight up lie to the agent?
I’m not aware of any term specifying a change fee has to be paid with Amex, as opposed to any cash element of the actual booking. It’s not illegal to use another person’s credit card with their permission (though it may be against the issuing banks Ts and Cs), so you may have better luck if you HUACA, then if the next agent insists on Amex, take it from there!
Due to some BA space opening up, I have two options to get to Bali outbound and am curious which other HFP readers would choose:
1. Qatar LGW-DOH-DPS J class (currently booked)
787 LGW-DOH afternoon departure – 6 hours or so to DOH
3.5 hours in Doha
A350-1000 DOH to DPS around 9 hours. Next day evening arrival (1730)
160,000 Avios plus £7652. BA LHR-SIN J class ; then someone else (Scoot PE or Garuda J possibly) SIN-DPS
BA11 to SIN on 777 (leave the evening before the Qatar flight) 13+ hours
110,000 Avios plus £625 using Barclaycard upg voucher
Evening in SIN and stay overnight (poss Changi Crowne Plaza as I have IHG points)
Next day fly SIN-DPS separate ticket to DPS – 2+ hrsNever done a trip via Middle East before – am curious if on balance people would recommend the QR option vs the alternative of a long BA Club Suite sector and then a short hop
Option 1 or 2?

Thanks @NorthernLass. Apparently the 241 element of this is what complicates matters. I’m told ‘detailed notes’ have been added to my booking now so perhaps any other agent will be wise to my attempts now!
@Wis – I’d stick with option 1, personally, you have enough time to use the Al Mourjan in Doha, also the Qatar flight would be a much better experience, worth paying the extra Avios and taxes.
Having said that, I have flown the BA11 to SIN, and it was ok.In fact, I currently have a QR flight booked for Q4, LHR-BKK-LHR with a 50 minute layover in Doha, 150k Avios £620 taxes.
The cancellation will only be $25 for the QR flight, if you do change your mind!

Personally I think 6 hours is not enough for a good J experience as you cannot have a proper nap. Meal services will take up 2 hours either end and that leaves you with 2-3 hours of relaxation. Slightly better on the second leg as you can sleep for max 5 hours. If your hotel is close to DPS and you plan to hit the bed anyway, it should be fine.
I reckon you have a better chance of sleeping well on the BA flight, plus access to fabulous food options at Changi. As your DPS flight is next day, it gives you flexibility and option to see something at either SG or Bali depending on the flight.@smblcklck, I meant in the 241 terms. I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s specifically excluded. If there’s still availability though, it might just be easier to cancel and rebook!

I’ve just been reading through the companion voucher terms and I can’t find any explicit reference to changes and charges at all beyond the basic wording of ‘must be paid with an American Express card’
Thinking about cancel and rebook, although I would have to roll the dice on whether my return PVG-LHR reappears as it’s currently no availability in J for my dates

I can get a cash price in April but not points. Interesting
