Just received an email from Air France to say that our flight from Nice to LHR has been modified and it will now make a stop over in Paris Charles de Gaulle.
However, the email and booking section of both Air France and Virgin Atlantic where booking was made on points) does not have any information regarding the change or the length of stop over time.
Anybody experienced this before?
What’s the exact wording of the email? I’m just wondering if it’s a clumsy translation and they’ve actually re-routed you via CDG, in which case you’ll have to get off and change planes. Is there any mention of flight numbers?

What is the date? are they still selling your flight on Air France website? Sounds like the Nice-LHR has been cancelled and they’re rerouting you via CDG on a connection (not a stopover, you’d disembark, clear immigration and get onto another flight to London)
@JDB Arghhhhh. Their are hangers and they’re are hangars. I’m quite upset that I can’t edit the post.
@NorthernLass and SamG the email wording is below
Due to a schedule adjustment, we regret to inform you that Air France no longer offers direct flights between Nice and London-Heathrow airport.
As a result, your AF7550 flight on 10/26/2025, between Nice and London, has been modified and now includes a connection at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Your travel schedule has been adjusted accordingly.
We recommend checking the status of each flight in your booking.
Should this proposal not suit you, please contact your travel agency directly.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and wish you a pleasant journey.
I have since contacted Air France who have said the flight has not changed and is still going from NCE to LHR. I’m now confused as to why I have received the email.
@strickers, we just assumed it was clever word-play! Or auto-correct on your work phone, lol.

🤣🤣🤣
@harrysjones21. Yes, so you’re now connecting at CDG. But as the first leg is domestic it should be quite painless, as I recall from a similar experience LYS-CDG-MAN last summer. No immigration and no 2nd security check at CDG. IIRC, there was just a tunnel with some signs to get to the next gate. You should get 2 boarding cards when you check in.
This is still quite a long way off so AF CS may not know about the schedule change.
If your original flight has actually been cancelled, you have EU261 re-routing rights and may want to push for a direct flight on another airline. I have no idea how amenable AF is in these kind of situations as it was BAH who re-routed us on AF!
@NorthernLass thanks for the reassurance.
We were just a bit anxious with how long the connection time maybe at CDG.
Air France & Virgin Atlantic apps are not showing the change to the flight as of yet, maybe we will see something closer to the date of departure.
The original flight does not appear to be cancelled, just as you say rerouted.
Keep an eye out for changes to the flight number; this can indicate that it is, in fact, a cancellation. If they’ve cancelled the route, then in all likelihood all NCE-LHR flights will be cancelled and pax will be sent re-routing details, which may or may not be convenient for them.
@NorthernLass thanks for the advice.
Should the flight be cancelled and we are rerouted and decide to no longer fly.
Are we entitled to cancel our return leg flight and have the reimbursement of costs paid for selecting our seats (exit row) as well as have the points for the return leg of the journey recredited to our Virgin Atlantic account?
The trip was booked as a round trip with tickets for two people.
I have had a look today and can see BA are offering a flight for a similar time , same luggage allocation for 261.76 euros.
Virgin’s RFF page has completely lost touch with reality this afternoon.
This morning was showing the 2 flights I’d picked in June/July as 55K, and nothing else at the saver level over 6 weeks (they were previously at 33K but I missed out). This afternoon I get all excited because there are now 14 days showing with prices from 29k-35k in UC
But when I go to book them they’re 290-300k
I hate VS more than BA at the moment
Anyway for someone who wants to burn VS points, there are some saver 6,000 + US$76 tax flights from JFK-MAN which do exist for booking in June. That’s insanely cheap.

The flights have been taken off sale from the 26th but not yet cancelled, hence why you’re not seeing any adjustment yet. At some point they’ll cancel the flight and a rebooking via Paris will be triggered. At this point you could ask Virgin to cancel the sector and return your points and ask Air France to refund your seat fees.
Personally I’m not sure I’d be messing about with a connection and would do that and book with BA.
Worth noting that the flight does operate until the 25th , if you have any flexiblity on dates that may be an option to ask them to fly you the day before instead

I saw some Male-London flights for 7500 pts too which does seem like a great deal!
@SamG so I would need to wait for the flight to be cancelled in the first instance before pursuing the refund of point etc?
First time this has happened to us, so trying to get a hold of the situation.
VS JFK-MAN is about 6 hours, overnight, in economy. You’d have to be desperate or able to survive on no sleep! I’m just hoping I can get a reasonable deal ATL-MAN in a coffin seat (it’s only for lying in and I’m not tall!) next April.

The schedule for ATL-MAN looks odd for next year, like from Feb onwards they are only flying Tues-Sat, so you’ll need to be quick off the mark for Savers that come up.
I’m so annoyed, I have 5 potential outbound flights on AE from Dub but can’t lock anything in until VS sort their IT out

Yes, that is right. At the moment it’s still showing as operating but I think the fact that you’ve had that email means they won’t hang about getting it fully cancelled in their systems. Then you can trigger a refund etc
@NorthernLass Just San Sebastián and Santander, two nights at each destination with one night in Biarritz before. Ferry home from Santander to end the month long road trip!
Very nice. I’ll be visiting San Sebastián in June so do report back on any culinary discoveries.
We’ve been a few times to SS and are back there next week for an eating and drinking trip. Some recommendations but I would just suggest wandering, eating and drinking!
Ganbarra, La Mejilonera (throwing mussels), La Vina (cheesecake), Bar Sport (good for sea urchins), Bar Nestor
We always go to Casa Julian in Tolosa – short train ride (which is cheap) but amazing steak.
Can second Ganbara, La Viña, Bar Sport and Bar Nestor. Would also add Atari, we didn’t have a bad plate of food when we were there.
I’ve put a full update on my IHG forum post re successfully extending my Ambassador free night certificate by 6 months – I can’t find any availability before August following cancelling a June stay that we can’t make anymore.
I’ve had a once only 6 month extension to my Ambassador status & certificate. I’ve also had a double bonus that re-applying my Platinum status on the account during the process has resulted in Platinum running until 31/12/2026 which is handy since my cash stays are mostly with Hilton these days.
Why is it so hard to find shower facilities at Heathrow?
In June I’ll be spending 5+ hours at Heathrow having arrived solo at T3 on a Virgin red-eye from NYC before departing T3 on a BA flight to Sofia with friends. Then 5 days later on the return leg we arrive from Sofia late Sunday evening and I fly back to NYC early Monday morning.
I’m flying economy and don’t have status with any loyalty programs but I’m happy to pay for lounge access. As far as I can tell, none of the pay lounges in T3 have showers, but I’d have enough time to go to another terminal if that gave me access to shower facilities at a pay lounge.
On my return I don’t suppose there are any lounges open overnight (and the by-the-hour hotel costs more than my flights) so any recommendations on a comfy spot would be appreciated.Go to duty-free and spray your self with perfume.
What a fabulous breakfast spread too, including oranges with a juicer and warm bread.
Is that normal or location specific?
I can highly recommend the Newcastle version, which puts on a quality breakfast.
I’ve only been once and it was a while ago but I recall the Brum one was not quite at the same level but still more than adequate.
(I can’t remember they’re (sic) being a juicer in either though.)
Not that this will help @Aston, but the MCO property where we spent one night after a flight last month had a pretty mediocre breakfast but good pulled pork tacos and salad at the social hour which negated the need to go out to eat that night. I was also allowed to select 2 snack items from the pantry!
