BTW if you are time poor and need a stack of BAC nTPs, BA has some expensive CE fares to Bilbao/San Sebastian tomorrow. Accomodation might also be expensive if you fancy a BAH.
If you don’t like a football fan atmosphere, probably best avoided.
Where has the tourist money, gone, indeed 😱
I have no idea what the situation is in Spain’s coastal tourist destinations, but in Madrid’s case it’s tug of war between the region & central government. Much like the Western Cape govt would take over Eskom yesterday and end load shedding tomorrow, but doesn’t have the authority to act. A few years ago I thought these were people on overnight layovers. Aena should enforce a curfew and erect a homeless center from where these people can be dispersed between (sub)urban shelters. That is how it’s done at most Western European airports. But I guess nobody wants to pay for the logistics.
To be honest sleeping rough is a manufactured problem. In countries such as the Netherlands and Denmark, shelters are subsidized & sleeping rough criminalized. Gone are the zombietowns.
@Liz – you can book the same flights with FinnAir for 15k Avios each on AA. As far as I can work out, there isn’t a strong case to book via BA, spending the same. Transfer of Avios to FinnAir is free and instant if you’re all setup, and they are lovely to speak to on the phone!
