This is today’s chat thread.
If you have specific questions about Avios, hotels or credit cards, please ask them in the appropriate forum and not here. This thread is a good place to post interesting deals you have spotted or your general thoughts on travel and all things miles and points. Thank you for contributing.
Question for the panel. What is the best way to claim Original Routing Credit from BA? If the general online complaint form, which options will get it to the right place?
Currently enjoying some additional beach time in Honolulu while AA & BA argue about who should be reissuing a ticket for my now broken trip home!
Morning all – I’m heading LHR-TPE on CI this week in PE, clutching my freshly minted (status matched) Miles&More Gold Card.
I’ve read elsewhere CI uses the CX lounge in T3, can anyone confirm that this is still the case and whether I will get access as a SkyTeam status holder?
A word of warning on the Amex Hilton offer. I used this on a pre-pay booking at Hilton Edinburgh Carlton last time round and whatever merchant code the transaction was put through under was ineligible for the cashback. Argued a couple of times with Amex but to no avail.
I wonder if the hotel is processing advanced payments in a different way to usual given the construction works affecting the hotel including front desk?
Good morning from Lugano in the land of the £9 pint. Staying at the International au Lac which is a charming hotel, the room decor is circa 1850 and the floor creaks to show the age. Bathroom is huge with quality loo roll, hangars are plentiful and also probably vintage and for once there is a kettle which ironically was not needed. It’s the first time in many years I’ve seen an honesty bar in a hotel along with a free coffee machine, wine and beer were about half the price of the various restaurants along the street. Although expensive, the place is utterly charming. Next stop Bellagio on Lake Como as the European EV road trip continues, 1200km done, 2200km to go.
@AndrewT Good luck with your onward travel and keep those expensive Honolulu receipts!Question for the panel. What is the best way to claim Original Routing Credit from BA? If the general online complaint form, which options will get it to the right place?

The only time I had to do this (so far!) I rang the Club rather than try and do it online – points were added within a few days.
+1 – I thought I might have a hard time getting ORC as I’d been re-routed on AF, but it was sorted in less than a week. It was from a BAH, but I had to call BAEC (as it was!) to get the TPs added.
@Strickers, sounds lovely, apart from the prices! You are in celeb territory though.Morning all – I’m heading LHR-TPE on CI this week in PE, clutching my freshly minted (status matched) Miles&More Gold Card.

Don’t know about lounges, but we are travelling to TPE via Hong Kong, leaving next Wednesday. Please report on any good tips for Taipei. I think OH ended up booking the W Hotel, as there was a mega discounted rate on a few months ago.
After TPE we will be travelling in to the interior of Taiwan, tea plantations etc. Can’t wait.
Would I be very foolish to go to Malta for the week given it’s the Easter holidays? Just wondering if the pool and town will be crowded. Have been twice before so I know what to usually expect, but I do like it for its quieter charm!
@executiveclubber Compare hotel prices between Easter week and the week after across half a dozen hotels. It won’t be perfect but might give you an idea of demand?
HI I need to book avios flights on Iberia that are realeased by Iberia tomorrow. As advised here that it would be better to book via BA, is there a number i can call at midnight to book them?

HI, there will be some celebrations at the churches and whilst probably a bit more busy than usual it won’t be noticeable. You won’t have problems booking restaurants etc. It will still be quieter than summer. I was there last weekend and still a bit chill – temperatures are lower than usual this year but by the time you get there it should be between 15-20 degrees.
Not sure when’s the last time you been there but the island has got a lot a busier in last few years.

The Beitou hot springs / night market makes a great easy side trip by metro!

You can book by calling BAEC, I’m not 100% sure they are released at midnight, however. Have a look at the Iberia threads on here for more info.

@AndrewT Good luck with your onward travel and keep those expensive Honolulu receipts! If you like ice cream, at Como, you should try the buffalo milk ice-cream at Gelab Gelato.
There are also a lot of roadworks going on at Como right now, just to be aware.
Having earned a BAPP 241 a few months ago and with no news forthcoming about spend and tier points, I decided to downgrade my card to the free one. Today another voucher has appeared in my account, this time the economy only type.
I expect things will sort themselves out when the dust settles after the Club changes so I don’t anticipate it staying there.
My wife is buggering off to Malta tomorrow for a girls week away, she has left me to project manage the long needed works to our house, new windows, re painting and a new driveway,
I will need a holiday after this! She is flying Sleazy Jet, so hope there are none of the delays I’ve seen pop up here and there.
Temps look ok at a steady 20c throughout, at least it will be 20c here in rural Essex on Friday.HI I need to book avios flights on Iberia that are realeased by Iberia tomorrow. As advised here that it would be better to book via BA, is there a number i can call at midnight to book them?
It’s 1am they’ll be released now (due to clock change). You can try calling the Australian office, that’s who my husband called when he booked ours. Otherwise you can risk waiting for the UK office to open at 8am, but obviously there is a chance your flights might be gone by then.
@Gordon, I’ve even been topping up my tan for the past few days here in the usually grey north! Hope all the works have generated lots of avios/other points. You’ll definitely deserve a break of your choosing after that!
@JaneDoe, someone has just resurrected one of the Iberia threads with a new data point on booking redemptions.@elguiri We are staying in Bellagio, I’ll look for that style of gelato though.

Yes the weather has been very pleasant the last week,
Always thinking of a points angle, HaHa, As many points as I can, as some companies are still not keen on Amex, so I’ve had to relinquish the half avios on the BAPP and use the Barclaycard instead on some works, so not all is lost.Yes I am hoping to still tour SEA end of this year or start of 2026, I’ve left it a little late for J redemption flights, so might have to slum it in PE.
But I am flexible so I can fly into anywhere in SEA to start the trip, so not all is lost.
easyJet are starting flights to Sälen/Scandinavian Mountains SCR Airport from LGW and MAN for December ski season.
Morning from Hotel Indigo Nashville for a week in music city. Upgraded from standard room to junior suite on checked thanks to a hotel IT glitch last month which they’ve remedied for us in fine fashion. A week of music beckons.
Flew into Atlanta in Virgin PE on A350. Seats and service excellent and all on time. We got a car hire for the three and a half hour one way drive to Nashville which was much preferable to connecting flight and came in at under $100 all in.
It’s going to be a canny week.
@RobH Enjoy the chaos that is Broadway! We had a great stay at the Indigo a few years ago. Hope you’ve managed to include the Grand Ole Opry & Ryman? Bluebird Cafe is great if you are lucky enough to get a ticket, Listening Room Cafe is also good and RCA Studio B is a must.
Well I just had my first successful Hilton BRG claim in many years (admittedly I’ve only submitted a few over that time, each met with rejection on contrived grounds).
This time I did it on the phone, and maybe just got lucky with the agent. The competeting rate was on ‘stayforless’.com, which I’d never heard of and was sure to be on their list of no-go sites for comparison, but she accepted it. I also expected to have a problem as the 3rd party rate was stated ‘non-refundable’, whereas the Hilton rate was ‘semi-flex’ but passed the cancellation window (so non-refundable too, but I expected enough of a reason for them to reject). But no, she did’t even mention that at all.
