Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Child meal – is there a vegetarian option in Club World?

    Hi all,
We recently flew emirates on Economy and we were able to request a vegetarian child meal via calling customer service as it wasn’t an option on the website. We are flying to Cancun in Club world, and wondering if BA offer a similar meal, if not, I won’t go through the hassle of trying to contact them.

Have you looked in MMB? You can order special meals from the time of booking, though I don’t know if there’s a specific veggie child option.

Thanks both, I can order a child’s meal via logging in to the website but it’s not guaranteed to be vegetarian, I’ll contact ba customer service and see what they can offer. Thanks

What happens if you try to select a vegetarian meal against the child’s passenger details? Does it give that option? Even BA must know there are children who are veggie!

If your child needs a vege meal then order a vege meal

Call centre staf can only see the same special meals options as you can in MMB and can’t request anything outside of that pre set list

This may be a non-vegetarian meal that is suitable for young travellers between the ages of 2-12 years.

May contain beef and pork products

I understand that it’s usually on the lines of chicken nuggets or pasta.

    – as an adult I once managed to order (no idea how) myself a baby meal on a UA flight so it looks like airlines don’t sense check’ these things. Luckily the FA and I had a good chuckle about it and I was given an adult meal. And then later a bottle of champers because someone with a baby hadn’t ordered a meal so they were able to use ‘my’ meal for that so it got them out of a hole!

There seem to be very few airlines who specifically offer a child vegetarian meal. Singapore are an exception to the rule. I doubt many airlines want to add extra complexity, but there seems to be no good route to feed back to BA that this would be a desired option.
Mine are luckily reaching the ages where they will get on with an adult Veggie meal, though if they see carnivorous kids in the cabin with “goodies” or more appealing food they are sure to grumble.

Just returned from a Club World flight with a vegetarian 2 year old and can confirm that there is no ability to order a Child vegetarian meal and the child meals are not generally vegetarian – on the way out from LHR the starter was a vegetarian pasta salad but the main was chicken nuggets. On the return, both the starter and main were meat. The cabin crew were great and found alternatives and there were also sandwiches in club world kitchen
