Forums Payment cards American Express Claim for ticketmaster

  • 365 posts

Just wondering if anyone had ever had to claim for tickets purchased on Ticketmaster with Amex. My daughter booked tickets in December 2022, paid using my Marriott Amex. She has now been given a date for major surgery on her knee which will be 3 weeks before the concert. She will need accessible seats now but Ticketmaster say none are available and won’t give her a refund…is it worth contacting Amex?

If she booked non-refundable tickets, there isn’t much Amex can or could be expected to do. Yes, Ticketmaster is perhaps being unhelpful (or they genuinely don’t have any accessible seats to offer). Amex could be jointly liable (under s75) if there were a misrepresentation or breach of contract but that doesn’t appear to be the case here, nor is there apparently the basis for a chargeback. Maybe Ticketmaster might agree to a credit in the circumstances? It’s also possible that some cards offer insurance for this eventuality.

You’d have been offered insurance which may have covered such a situation, otherwise you’ll probably need to resell the tickets if she can’t attend in the seats she has booked

Phone the venue and ask if they can be accommodating

Agree, Ticketmaster are still providing the product you purchased so aren’t at fault – no mileage in a chargeback/S75.

Resell might be the only option if no alternative is available.

Yes, I accepted the insurance when I applied for the card. Was kind of hoping that might apply in this case….

@Carlos, didn’t think to tell her to phone the venue directly, no harm I guess, thanks

Try a resale via Twickets if you fail to get a refund.
