Club Europe sale for one-way only?

I’m looking to book some flights up to Glasgow, and some very good CE “sale” fares have popped up on the outbound flight.
However, if selecting this fare it’s not possible to book economy return, and the “sale” fare doesn’t pop up if booked as a one-way only (it’s doubled).

Is there any way round this? Ideally I’d like to book the CE sale fare one-way outbound with an Avios booking for return – else just CE sale fare outbound and economy cash fare return

You can normally select CE out and ET back, unless there’s some sort of restriction with the sale fares.

That’s what I was trying to do, but the system didn’t let me. If I select CE out, I can only select CE back (and even if I select ET out, I can only choose ET back!) – it seems it might be an issue with airports being served by multiple London airports, but can’t find a way to do the “mixed” booking. Perhaps I’ll need to phone up.

I see what you mean now. Yes, looks like they might only be selling these as return journeys.
