Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Companion Voucher – 2 vouchers and 4 travellers, one in each adult account

Hi everyone, I’ve used companion vouchers in the past but have a few queries since I last used a CV. We are a family of four and have 2 companion vouchers, one in each adult’s account. I’ve had a hunt through the forums for these answers but haven’t found the answers I’m looking for in the articles or forums.

1 – I’m looking to redeem 4 business seats to Singapore and will try calling at midnight. Given the vouchers are in two separate accounts how do I manage this? Will the agent be able to access both accounts for me? We are both nominees in each others accounts so hopefully that will alleviate the issue but does my other half need to stay up to midnight with me for verification purposes?

2 – Should I have both accounts linked to one payment card for ease of any changes that may be required ready before my call or does it matter that we have separate AMEX cards linked to our accounts?

3 – If we use both of our Premium BA vouchers for the outbound and wait for the inbound, it seems that I lose the ability to search for the extra seats – am I correct? If so, that seems to be a failure of the system! Any advice aside from asking kindly for others to look or just wait and cross my fingers for standard availability to open up?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    1. One agent can only access one account/voucher each time, then they move onto the next account) but SIN seats would likely be gone). Alternatively you could try to book online the other 2 seats yourself in tandem with the agent. OH doesn’t need to stay up if you are a nominee.

    2. You could have the same card linked for both BAEC accounts. It’s easier administratively.

    3. No other way, besides asking on here or ring BAEC unfortunately.

One piece of advice- Generate one voucher near your anniversary end and the 2nd shortly after before moving onto OH’s card. Will make you life simpler.

Thank you Gary, I’ll have to see what happens when I’m on the phone to the agent – it’s not an ideal situation as before I’ve had two companion vouchers in one account but this year is different with a voucher in each account. Fingers crossed it will all work out!

If you explain what you are trying to do up front I’m not sure if they can hold four seats while processing two bookings. The seat hold is not itself account specific.

Point 3 can’t be considered a failure. They can’t exactly show additional availability to everyone then later say ‘sorry you can’t have that seat’. Does it come in to play if you’re booking at T-355 anyway?

Thank you for your input Andrew. If the seat hold is not account specific then it might work if I explain what I’m trying to do up front.
