As expected, despite the usual trolls saying that it wouldn’t happen.

Are they sacking you off completely or offering you some non-IHG product to move over to?

“On 28 June 2023, you’ll move over to the Creation Credit Card. Click to view the terms and conditions for the Creation Credit Card.”

Mine is the white – free – IHG card, but I’d imagine it’s the same for everyone. Creation don’t actually offer any cards to new customers any more, so this will shrink their customer base by a great deal, I’d imagine. I know I’ll be cancelling, and hoping another company picks up the IHG mantle. (None of the companies which have partnered with IHG before seem to have had much luck, Creation was the second that I know of, Barclaycard being the first).

They are closing down for all IHG credit cards – moving onto their standard Creation card.

It looks like Vanquis is the only card left now that allows you to pay off with a credit card – but they don’t earn you any reward points unfortunately. Unless anyone knows of any others ?

The offer is to move to a Creation CC without any reward schemem. e.g. cashback, points, magic unicorns.

IHG UK is yet to offer up a credit card partner, don’t know if they will.

I’m thinking (and hoping) that Chase UK will get into this market soon. I know they run quite a few similar branded cards in the US.

I have still not received anything despite accepting the offer – anyone else in the same position or do I need to go back to FOS?

Honestly I’d be amazed if they did or anyone did.

We’re all still hoping that Chase will do a Hyatt card for the UK or Amex start a partnership. Probably end up being a 5:1 conversation ratio or something stupid like that.

Full closure letter posted over on Flyertalk for those caught up in the previous closures. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/intercontinental-hotels-ihg-one-rewards-intercontinental-ambassador/2118884-ihg-ends-relationship-creation-credit-card-uk.html Main paragraphs below.

Very relevant, what creation has sent out in their letter is exactly how the 60 day notice period should have been handled in the first place. Will strengthen those with cases still out standing.

    IHG One Rewards Points
Continue to use your IHG One Rewards Premium Credit Card as normal and earn IHG One Rewards Points up to and including 27 June 2023.
    IHG One Rewards Status
From 28 June 2023, your IHG One Rewards account will no longer be affiliated with Creation Financial Services. You’ll maintain your current IHG One Rewards Status until 31 December 2023. From 1 January 2024, if you’d like to keep your IHG One Rewards Status, you’ll need to earn the required Qualifying Points or Nights.
    Anniversary Night Qualification and Redemption
Spend £10,000 or more between your anniversary date and 27 June 2023 to qualify for and receive an Anniversary Night
Anniversary Night* can be redeemed using your IHG One Rewards account in the usual manner. You’ll have the full period to redeem your Anniversary Night based on the expiration date listed when the Anniversary Night is awarded
If you choose to close your account before moving to the Creation Credit Card, you can still claim your Anniversary Night as long as you’ve spent £10,000 since your last Anniversary date.
    Annual Fee
You may still be charged your annual fee up to and including 27 June 2023
A pro-rata refund against your annual fee** will be completed. The amount refunded will depend on the amount of time between your Anniversary date and the termination date of 27 June 2023
The pro-rata refund will be repaid off your account balance by the end of July 2023.

My white Creation IHG card has kept its head down through a turbulent 18 months and, in the absence of notice to the contrary, I expect it to survive the announced severance of relations with IHG.

Nobody with any sense would post about it here.

Only a tiny number of accounts were shut down – over 95% still have their cards

    This aged well.

How could @JDB possibly know that??!! Too many people get sucked in by this guy.

Any offers on over 95%? Higher or lower? 😂

    @Harrier25
    – 1800 accounts were allegedly cancelled – a figure provided to this site by a Creation staffer in October 2021. I believe the number was a bit high, but in the right ballpark and some were white cards, so less affected and a few other oddities. The FOS’s statistics suggest fewer than 250 complaints were received. There were fewer than 150 ‘voices’ on this thread until recent days, at least twenty of whom aver to being disinterested parties (including myself and @Lady London) and more than 15 commented that their accounts remained open, so not really very many people, vocal though they may be.

So, on your analysis, what % of accounts do you suggest were closed? If your answer is say 25%, such that I’m wrong by a factor of five, do you think IHG Creation had just 9,000 accounts open before the closures?

It’s very easy to be gratuitously rude and criticise others and I couldn’t give a monkey’s about that, but please have the courtesy to provide the evidence to refute this figure which isn’t exclusive to me.

No real trusted facts were used to come to your conclusion then. Just other stuff you read on here and on the FOS website. Many didn’t bother going to FOS, so that figure can’t be trusted. Get real, my friend. 😂

I have no idea what the percentage is, and neither do you.

I wasn’t being rude, just questioning your figures which you clearly can’t back up with any credibility.

It is rude just to suggest someone is wrong when you have no idea or evidence to support that assertion. The figure of over 95% was written advisedly and various other pieces of evidence suggest that it’s broadly correct. What I find particularly strange about your comment is that very similar figures have been mentioned by me and others for almost 18 months and you have only decided to challenge it today.

Maybe I didn’t read those posts from 18 months ago. I don’t read every post on here and give up on some threads when they start to get tedious and dull.

I’m not even saying you’re wrong. I’m saying you can’t know enough to start throwing percentages like that around.

You made a guess on the information available to you, but you can’t say over 95% with any certainty…and I would definitely take anything a Creation employee says with a pinch of salt. I’ve spoken to enough of them on the phone and some of the stuff they spout is laughable!

Thus spake a self avowed disinterested party, participating in this thread for unknown reasons and with no knowledge of the situation.

Has anyone had an answer, clear or otherwise, from Creation or FOS about the various reported deposits of points – usually too low an amount – and free nights – for some but not others – since the supposed settlement “offers” were made?

    458 posts

No – but I and others have noted here than the points arrived in 2 tranches, meaning that all the outstanding ones have now been transferred to our IHG accounts.

No. But I didn’t get anything despite accepting the “offer”. That was four weeks ago and I have now raised with FOS again who have, within an hour, escalated to find a response as to why. Maybe creation got it wrong and missed me by accident. Maybe I am not due anything in their eyes (creation got it wrong). Or maybe something else.

I have rejected the offer and still received a reward night voucher (valid from 2 months before it credited and 746 points. I have no idea if this is correct or not.
