Forums Payment cards American Express Does nagging get you anywhere?

I’m a bit fed up with:
    – amex not crediting my trip to the Cardiff Ivy (they’ve been looking into it for over a week)

    – amex not crediting £100 off for a flight from the UK I booked with Virgin (I did use points but I don’t think that should affect me paying for fees with the card?)

From what I hear on here, it is standard to wait months for statement credits to appear? Does phoning, messaging repeatedly speed the process up?

What are the Ts and Cs in respect of how soon you can expect the credits on these 2 offers?

You need to wait until the period stated in the Ts and Cs has come and gone, then submit a complaint (and then ask for it to be escalated if you don’t get a satisfactory response).

Quite often credits and other bonuses will post well before the 90 days or whatever are up, but Amex won’t expedite this before that period has expired.

As usual @NorthernLass is spot on – just diarise to pick it up with customer services after (usually) 90 days.

I don’t think complaining would get the credits issued any faster, as they don’t do anything until the full 90/120 days, etc have gone, but I think CS can tell you if the offer has tracked, at least.

I used to get an email to thank me for using one of my offers, and the credit would appear a couple days later, but my £50 HN didn’t do either for a couple weeks, I was worried it didn’t track for some reason, so went on chat to chase up, and whilst they couldn’t do anything until the 90 days were up, they at least reassured me that it had tracked, and lo and behold, the credit appeared well within the timeframe.

I’m sat £400 down because the Amex travel offer has not credited. Got fobbed off on all attempts at contacting the agents so raised a complaint … and now it is almost at the 30 working days since raising, which is the max time they say it takes to respond to a complaint. I am not hopeful on this one and think I’ve been screwed on the £400 for good.

When should it have credited by?

I had an issue with Hyatt cash back not posting when the last offer was on, it took 2 written complaints (including a complaint against an agent who closed my initial complaint twice with no explanation!) before it was resolved; I got an extra £50 for my trouble.

*Always take screen shots of your offers or Amex may try to claim they were never there!

Agreed with all above, but I think there is some difference between one agent to another in the way they handle complaints.

I’d say call within Brighton work hourse and sound disappointed and angry to get your message accross.. In my cases, it helped a bit.
