First of all apologies, as this is talked about elsewhere but wanted some clarity as a newbie.
Am I right in thinking if I use Avios to go somewhere but want to fly from Manchester and site quotes me a lot more miles than London, I can just book from London and then call them add and they will add domestic from Manchester for free? On a similar note, at times its just not giving me availability on the domestic leg with Avios so does calling them overcome this hurdle too?
Cheers
Alex
Domestic add-ons are not free when the destination is a short-haul one, only long-haul (sometimes, there may be higher – or lower – taxes and charges).
If there’s no availability, calling will not create more availability – there’s no “right” to be able to add a domestic connection to any flight.
Similar question. If I book a BA Holiday for two or four from London…
Can I add on domestic connections for other members of the party?
Eg If I book a LGW-MCO Holiday for 3 adults plus 1 child. Can I then add on the domestic connections from EDI or GLA for 2 adults plus 1 child?
You should only be getting quoted avios for RFS (short haul flights). These are no longer good value as you’re effectively paying twice. On a long haul route it’s not free but you should be only paying whatever the tax element is from the domestic airport (MAN seems to be one of the highest), plus the avios and cash cost of the long haul. Sometimes you need to chose the “stopover” option to see full availability for the domestic legs, then select them separately – this won’t affect the overall cost of the booking.
@Andrew – no you can’t add domestic connections like this, you’d need a separate booking for the people who need it, it’s to do with the pricing structure for BA holidays.
Thanks all. You’re quite right in that I experimented between short and long haul, the additional avios is only on short haul. Thanks.
I’m really wanting to get to MLE in business but that seems an impossibility with BA, whilst QR have a lot more options and a much better product, downside is can’t use my companion voucher and / or UG voucher. Also seems MLE is only LGW which is not much good for a MAN connect.
