Would be grateful for thoughts on where to credit my upcoming qatar flights.
I have Qatar gold , just extended until end March 2023.
I only have blue with BA. Tier point year ends November 8th
I have a cash (+avios) qatar flight from bkk-doh-Cpt return in business in January. ( d and I class)
If I credit to Qatar, I will get 158 Qpoints and ~40k avios. I need 270 points within previous 12 months to re qualify as gold. As my status has been extended to 31/3/23, does that mean I need 270 before 31/3/23, or is it 270 points within a rolling 12 month period (so I would then have another 11 months to get a further 112 points?). I can’t find any proof, but I think the Qatar status would then last for 12 months from the date I earned it?
If I credit to BAEC I think I’ll earn 560 points, and the BA tier point calculator says I’ll earn around 20k avios.
To achieve BA silver, I would still need 40 tier points and fly 2x BA flights, before November 2023. If I do this, I’d then get BA silver until Nov 2024, and soft landing to bronze until nov 25? (Good for seats at least).
So whichever program I credit to, I will need to fly more to get oneworld sapphire. But BA would be shorter flights required and I think the status will last a longer time. The only downside of BA is the lower avios earned (I guess that’s because I’m Qatar gold vs BA blue?).
Any errors in my logic , or better suggestions?!
To get BA silver / gold you need 4 qualifying flights.
Are any of those 4 flights on your CPT trip coded as BA or do you have others?
With a 8th November 23 collection year end any BA status you earn will last until December 2024.
