Want to downgrade. In the app I can only see “change to a different card” option and this lets me choose a few different Barclaycards. Doesn’t feel like a simple downgrade as asks for my exec number again and other info. Is this the correct process? Or should there be a downgrade button somewhere?
Downgrade option will appear randomly at some point in the near future.
I’m still not getting the downgrade option and just been charged another month. Any advice short of call them?
It is indeed the “Change to a Different Card” option, where you should see other Barclaycards you can change to, including the free Avios version. The change actually happens after the current billing cycle close (after the statement get’s produced).
The Credit Account stays the same (including the history on your credit file) so does not matter that it ask you to confirm information, that is the way it is done at Barclaycard (it is a product change to a free Avios Card, rather then a Downgrade like Amex, similarly on how HSBC handle the Premier CC changes to/from fee paying world elite).
The problem is that some people do not see the option of the Free Avios card when they select “change to a different card”, and hence the “downgrade” is not an option.

Have you tried the “change to a different card” option? Did you also try at different times? There have been reports that the right cards option appears first thing in the morning to then disappear later..
