Downgrading your BA Premier Plus card – impact on voucher?

Hi I plan to downgrade my BA Premier plus card to the free BA amex card. If I do this will it affect the companion tickets that I already have. I have been told that I have to use the same card when making a booking with my companion ticket. If I don’t use the same card then I won’t be able to use the companion ticket. Is that correct?

No, it’s complete nonsense (although the rules do say this).

You need AN Amex card to use your companion voucher to pay the taxes. It doesn’t need to be a BA card and it doesn’t need to even be in your name. Feel free to downgrade.
