We’re a Family of 3, with a 2.5 year old Travelling to DXB on BA0105 in J in March 2024 and returning on BA0106 also in J.
I was worried about the club suite setup with our daughter; she is pretty well behaved normally – but it still worries us being so far from her (during take-off/landing etc).
I’ve just checked and BA0106 (inbound) is an A380 – which I think means the older CS design, meaning we could get one of the middle couple seats for my wife/daughter.
BA0105 (outbound) is 787 so I’m pretty sure would be new CS; BA0107 which departs earlier that day is an A380; so questions for you:
1. Is it worth trying to switch to the earlier flight? with the risk of the aircraft being switched last minute? currently departing at 2040 with the earlier flight at 1245 (what are the chances of equipment switch?)
2. if we were to switch (or even if not) would it be worth paying the (extortionate!) select seat for all of us ~£75pp/pf – £450 if we did it both ways!
3. Something else? perhap switch to PE – or even leave all alone and just roll with it?
If it makes any difference we’ve used a 2-4-1 voucher and a Barclays upgrade voucher
Go A380 (better with that age kid IMHO by an country mile) and they will allocate seating to the adult on same ticket about 5 days before check in, then pay for seats (for the adult standalone tkt) and if you don’t like the free seats you have been give . Keep a weekly watch closer to the time / moving to daily a few weeks out if you’re worried so much.
PE and J are night and day difference. PE is not bad tbh, especially on a day time flight.
I wouldn’t be comfortable putting a 2 year old in club suite. You won’t be able to see or touch them when you are both seated, including for take off and landing. This could be quite some time if there’s a long taxi.
You’d be better off with old Club World or PE. I would even consider economy if you can get a bulkhead row to yourself and create a bit of a playpen.
