Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club eStore with booking.com

Can anybody advise the most reliable way to ensure a booking.com transaction tracks? I have a booking.com account, but not sure if I should be signed into it BEFORE clicking the link through from the BA eStore, or click the link through to booking.com (in a private/incognito window) then log-in afterwards?

Just make sure tracking cookies are enabled on the eStore and booking.com.

I got a credit last month for a 13-month old transaction. 4 weeks later they took the Avios back as I’d cancelled the booking. I cancelled it the same day, also 13 months ago.

This is how I do it for a big spend.

First, from the BA portal, I click on booking.com. The window opens, I shut it immediately.
Then I go back to the portal to ensure that it showed tracked. This allows me to manually track it later on if it doesn’t work.

Second, I close the portal page. Open booking and login. Then close the page.

Third, I then start the whole thing: go the portal, click the link and open booking. Booking opens logged in. And I book and pay.

As it says on the portal page, it takes long time to get Avios from Booking

Thanks, I have about 15 nights worth to book across various hotels. I’m going to use a mix of Avios hotels at 15/£ and booking at 8. I think Avios will track more reliably, BUT not all my hotels are on there and in some cases are significantly more expensive on Avios vs booking. Need to decide what price I’m willing to pay for the extra Avios.

I think I’d have naturally followed a similar method to yours @can2. I seem to have a better success rate on Chrome incognito on a particular device.
