Apologies if this was already covered elsewhere on site
wonder what prompted this change and why after all the money spent on upgrading the scanners?
And why from September 1st. If there was a security issue surely the date wouldn’t be in 3 weeks time?
The concern, I believe, is that the new scanners are selecting more people for secondary scanning than was anticipated, meaning much longer processing times and queues.
It is therefore more about time/money/inconvenience/bad press than security failures/concerns, so doesn’t require an immediate change

Electronics seem to be a problem. I’ve been sent to secondary every time I went through the new scanners, until I ignored the shouting and took out my electronics anyway
I’ll hang on to my collection of shampoo bars, etc, for the time being then!

I would definitely hang on to them. I’ve been through new scanners at T3 at least 3 times this year and in various airports in Europe returning to UK. I have been pulled over every time for bottles and electronics. Would have been so much easier keeping to small bottles and putting them with Ipad in tray.
Airports and even manufacturers warned that overall processing times would increase, something confirmed in early trials. Compounded of course by passengers pushing their luck.
Arlanda appear to have a standard policy that all mobile phones must be out of bags and in the trays.
Meanwhile they completely missed the 500ml bottle of water that I’d forgotten to empty (as I realised when I came to refill it and found I didn’t need to!).
