Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Extending tier point year by a few days

I’ve gone from gold to Silver to on the verge of bronze I’ve been flying on other airlines or via redemptions. I’m on 480 tier points with a year end of July 9th and thought I’d be in the US by now but the timing didn’t work out. I’ll be going out in early July and returning after the 9th (in J) so would just miss silver re-qualification.

Has anyone had experience of asking BA to extend by a few days? If there’s no flexibility, I probably won’t go out of my way to book one world on this one but I’d like to keep silver if possible.

They can’t change the 8th of the month collection year date but once the flights have posted you can call BA and ask them to credit them to what would then be your old year. The limit of the ‘grace’ period is flights within 14 days of your year end.

That’s very helpful – thank you!

The grace period is 2 weeks – so if they allow it it will be any and all tier points earned in that time. You can’t ask for just a few days, or one week. Or at least you can ask but you won’t get it.

Thanks Matt. I’m guessing with the tier point year end change that it wont make any difference if they backdate them 2 weeks? I’m not sure I have the mental capacity to think all of that through…..
