Looking at some options for an Easter break to the Middle East, plenty of availability when I looked but a dilemma on the flights
Only silver at the minute but plenty of avios and a couple of 2-4-1 vouchers
The options were;
BA104 (from memory) A380 in first, departing lunchtime arriving around midnight
BA109 787-10 in Business (club suite) departing around 10pm, arriving 8:00am
Given no other constraints, what would you do? A daytime flight in first, with a bit of time in the Concorde lounge and a late check-in ready for a full day the following morning
Or an overnight flight in business, bog standard business lounge and an early arrival with a few hours to kill before check-in
Went with the second option eventually but curious if anyone would have done it differently
If schedule doesn’t matter the A380 every day of the year. Personally I would do that even if it was CW v CS and not F v CS. Daytime F on an A380 followed by a proper bed for the night … doesn’t get much better than that unless it’s an SQ A380 🙂
I missed the fact it was a 787-10.
But I’d still have gone F.
If you’re going for F, snap those seats up fast!
We had a very smooth flight on the upper deck of the A380 in CW last month (except for the 4 hour delay!). We were pleasantly surprised that we hardly had any jet lag, could this have been related to the aircraft? I’m normally floored by it!

BTW B777s give you a bad headache A380s don’t.
Six and a half hour flight overnight. Not long enough to get a decent amount of sleep, or enjoy the experience.
I would have picked the day flight arriving at midnight, regardless of the equipment or class of service.
F on the A380 is a bit old and tired, and the upper deck is much quieter than the main deck.
Personally, never had a headache on a 777.
Personally I wouldn’t fly BA J, as the food and service aren’t to the required standard, so the F option gets my vote.
Just realised you had already booked CW. So there are 2 F seats to DXB if anyone wants them, on April 8th! Peak date though.
If you had gone for F, the surcharges would have been very messed up if you were returning in a different cabin, so you probably did the right thing!
With hindsight F might have been the better option, would have been the first time my partner have flown first or visited the Concorde lounge as well
On a side note, loads of availability in J leading up to Easter when you use a 2-4-1 voucher – I didn’t quite realise how much more BA opened up vs what you can see on seatspy
Thanks all
I flew in CS on the night flight 777 to Dubai recently, and it worked well for me. No headache and I got around 5 hours sleep which led to an early night on the day of arrival. This helped me adjust to the time zone. I could have chosen F on the A380 but the the £670 per head taxes (x3) for F in comparison to £350 per head for CS made my mind up for me.
