Discuss today's stories:
Two parts to this post. First, I’m flying out of BOS this Sat in First. Just re-read the HfP review articles of the various versions of the suite. The review indicates that the 777 cabin has 14 seats but the seat map on BA manage my booking is only showing a fixed view of rows 1 and 2, i.e. 8 seats. Is that typical? In the meantime, I’m keeping an eye on FlightRadar to see what eqpt is assigned (it should be a 777) and if it matches the list for a refurb cabin.
Second, I’m transferring in T5 to an EDI flight. It’s been a while (thank you covid) but as I recall, flight connections brings you up at North security. Is that right? I assume because I’m ticketed through to EDI in First that I have access to the First lounge and Concorde room at the South lounge complex. Does that mean I can also use the “million pound door” at South security? Or am I going to run into an access issue because my next flight boarding pass will be for a Club Europe seat?
Any input is welcome. thanks in advance.
I arrived from BOS travelling F at T5 and had an onward flight to NCL later the same day. We just walked from the North side of T5 where you arrive after transferring, over to the Concorde lounge, and spent the day there. It was fine that the onward flight was in CE. This was about 5 years ago so YMMV.
You don’t need to bother with security as you’ve just come off a flight.

If you disembark from Domestic and transfer to international then security at T5 may be bypassed but as I have not done this for some time I may be wrong
What is certain is that if you arrive from the USA and transfer to a domestic flight you will be screened.
Most 777s that have First now only have an eight seat cabin. The exceptions are six (out of sixteen) 777-300ERs that haven’t yet been refitted with Club Suite and the smaller First cabin, and three 777-200ERs that were intended to be Gatwick based, but are currently operating services out of Heathrow.
The only 777s that have the new First suite with a door are the ten 777-300ERs that have been refitted (or arrived already fitted in the 8 seat configuration). All the 777-200ERs have the previous generation “New First” seat without the door.

Not true. As someone connecting to a domestic flight, the OP will need to clear immigration and customs first and then reclear security. Even on an international connection you still need to go through security, unless you’ve arrived on a domestic flight.
The 8F 777s are the refurbished ones. Most 777s had 14F seats until Club Suite was rolled out – the refurb is fairly recent so there is a lot of out of date info on the internet.
Arriving in T5 on an international flight, you clear immigration then security. There are two routes to CCR:
– use UK connections, this takes you into south security, there is often but not always a Fast Track option. Once you’ve cleared security there is a door to the right before you go towards the escalators with a BA attendant, this is the “millionaire’s door” into Concorde room.
– go landside following the arrivals route via immigration, baggage hall (exit by high numbered carousels), up the lifts to departures and back through First Wing, First Lounge and into lobby area then enter CCR that way.
Both take about the same length of time, Uk connections is better if time is tight but has more waiting and First Wing is more walking but shorter waits as a rule.
As others have said you only skip security if you’re arriving on a domestic and connecting to a long haul flight leaving T5. Here you just have a boarding card scan and then go up and emerge at Boots by A7-A8.
I stand corrected – I must have got mixed up with arriving on domestic vs. international
