Our early morning flight was cancelled due to the previous evening flight being cancelled due to adverse weather. Thus no plane on the ground for us. Notice given of cancellation less than 24 hrs.
Automatic reroute suggested by BA totally unsuitable. On phoning eventual reroute had us driving in middle of night to catch early morning Edinburgh flight and costs of airport parking ( and additional fuel costs of 160+miles )I’m inclined to just be glad that we made it on our trip, but equally, I’m disgruntled at forking out an additional £70 for parking and
over 300 miles worth of fuel.
Is it considered ‘tough luck and take the hit’ as it was all weather related and we still made our flights in time or
Will BA pay these additional costs ?If you write a short, factual complaint to BA you may find that they’ll cover both costs if you submit receipts, I’ve had taxis reimbursed when flights have arrived after the last trains depart.
Update: Result!
the unsuitable re route BA offered was LGW-YVR-Den. ( original INV-LHR-DEN) with no reference or indication of how we were all to get to LGW, which is 600 miles from Inverness! Hence the phone call and 2 am drive to EDI and increased long stay car parking.
I wrote a snail mail on 26 Sept. sign-for letter to BA and heard nothing more – until today. BA have agreed to pay in full the extra car parking and mileage at HMRC rates .
