I’m looking at booking 241 reward flights for post pregnancy- we are looking at destinations that are very popular so booking the max in advance – this would mean before the infant is born. Can I book flights for my husband and I and add the infant later or how does it work? Does anyone have experience of this- booking in advance before they’ve arrived Earth side?
Yes you can book for yourselves in advance. We booked BA reward flights before our baby was born and then called the BA call centre to add the baby as a lap infant. It’s pretty straightforward and the agent knew what he was doing. BA charges 10% of the fare (both Avios and the taxes + fees).
Having recently done this, I can tell you it’s easy. Book the flights for you and your husband. You can then create an executive account for your infant once they are born and you know the date of birth and name etc.
If you then add them to your household
Account, you can just call BA and then they take 10% from your paid, avios and cash.
That’s fantastic- thank you both!! 🙂
So if you pay E.g 150,000 plus £500 (taxes) using 241 voucher they charge 15,000 avois for baby plus £50?
We didn’t use a 2for1 for our booking but I would expect it to be 15k Avios + £25 (assuming the £500 is the taxes for both you and your husband) – basically it will be 10% of one adult’s fare.
