Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

    I’m genuinely perplexed by this.
Maybe I do not follow it.. currently there is an offer where you can gift avios and get 20% extra. I wanted to gift 50000 of mine but then was told it will cost me £899. Yet if I want to buy 50000 it also costs me £899.

Where is the sense ? Or is gifting not actually giving some of yours to someone else and is you just buying them from avios / BA for someone else ?

If you have 50k avios in your account and want someone else to have them then you need to transfer them which is much cheaper.

I agree, it’s slightly confusing. They are using “gifting” in the sense of buying someone a present here! You want to transfer, as per @BA Flyer IHG Stayer (which I always read as Slayer!)

So this appears to end today and a 40% bonus. Under Gift Avios.

Promotional Terms and Conditions: 40% bonus Avios
    1. This offer is only open to Members of the British Airways Executive Club (Eligible Participants).

    2. The offer is available from 00:01 (BST) 14 September 2023 to 23:59 (BST) 20 September 2023 only (the ‘Offer Period’).

    3. During the Offer Period, Eligible Participants will receive 40% extra Avios (bonus Avios) when they Purchase or Gift Avios.

Is this a no brainer or am I missing something?

It depends what value you place on avios.

The prices still seem to be north of 1p per Avios.
If I had to buy, I would use the triple boost instead (though that is dependant on having enough earned Avios in the 1st place)

Yes, on further inspection, it doesn’t stack up. Thanks
