Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Gold Benefit – 2nd Guest Stays Free and Breakfast

Trying to understand how best to book a 2 bedroom suite for 4 adults and one 2 year old to get the best value out of the Gold benefit.

The price difference when you change the adult numbers differs massively, it would seem the 2 year old is free so take that out of the equation for now.
If I book the room for one adult no breakfast – 2 adults should get breakfast free.
If I book the room for 2 adults including breakfast should all 4 of us get breakfast? 2 are free by using the gold benefit?

I’ve heard others have booked 1 guest in the past with 2 adults and 2 teenage children staying and have all had breakfast for free, obviously comes with a risk of being charged breakfast at checkout.

I just don’t want to book the room as 1 adult and one 2 year old, add one named guest to the room and then get a shock at checkin when we arrive as 4 adults and a 2 year old. Local tax person, per night would be due at the hotel too just to confuse things further.

Email the hotel and ask as they all have different interpretations.

I’m going to assume that this isn’t a hotel in the US as breakfast is no longer comped there // you get allowance (or pittance to be more accurate).

I’d book the right number of adults into the room if I were you – especially with a two year old in tow. Not worth the risk.

If you choose not to book for the correct number of people, the hotel might charge you a greater amount extra on the spot than you are seeing today. Clearly, as above, you should be advising the hotel of the correct number of guests and the scenario of extra children you cite is a bit different to two extra adults.

Completely understand where you are coming from but doesn’t everyone staying as a couple with status always book a room for one adult because the second stays for free and I’ve never heard anyone complaining they were charged for the second adult?

If you named the hotel it would be easier to suggest how they would respond to such a booking

If the family policy states kids are free you can leave off the child, so you should book for 3 adults as one adult is free as the “second guest”

It’s possible that they will just let you all have breakfast

Hotel booking engines can’t do stuff like this properly.

A nice email to the hotel asking for help as you are very much looking forward to this stay will likely solve the problem.

And I’ve always booked for two adults at Hiltons but have never seen a price difference between one and two albeit I’m not sure I’ve ever booked a Hilton on the continent for leisure.

It’s Hilton M Square Dubai for January, this will be our 4th stay there and get recognised by the F&B team now.

I emailed them a month or two ago but heard nothing back from them, maybe I should try again.

Is your hilton gold status via Amex.. For the UK I have Hiton gold via my Amex platinum and the missus has a supplementary Amex platinum (zero fees for this in UK) and also has hilton gold

If we need two rooms we book one each and each room then has guest benefits. If you want it on same floor can contact hotel and inform in advance

Yes three of us have Gold status but having a 2 bed suite with a living room, kitchen and washing facilities makes holidaying with a toddler so much easier.
