Forums Payment cards American Express Gold Card Deliveroo benefit expires soon

  • 45 posts

So I noticed on the Gold Rewards card, the Deliveroo benefit expires on 17/10.

Does anyone know whether this is this going to be renewed?

I’ll use mine this week just in case it doesn’t get renewed

It’s not a contractual benefit so could be removed. I remember looking at this a while ago. I’m doubtful it will continue forever

I value the Deliveroo credits fairly highly, considering I’m able to collect a “free” bubble tea twice a month whenever I’m in town.

Will put some serious thought into canning the card if they don’t renew or replace with someone of decent value, as not sure I’m getting £190 worth of value out of the card otherwise…

The thing is, the Deliveroo credit is still being marketed on the Gold card signup page, so it’d be very unlikely that they’ll just pull the benefit without any notice period. That being said, it still makes sense to use them before it expires just in case.

They are still advertising it as a benefit. If it’s getting canned, they better come up with a good compensation for those applying now.

There’s nothing changing – we’d have been told.

What about the insurance provider for Gold – does anyone know if that is changing on the 1st January as per the Platinum card?

    Yes it is: https://icm.aexp-static.com/Internet/internationalcardshop/en_gb/pdf/gold-credit-card/Preferred_Rewards_Gold_Credit_Card_Insurance_Documentation.pdf

Also, it looks like the Deliveroo offer saved on my card has now been extended till 17/10/2025.

Oh that is good news. Now to see what Platinum benefits will change to. If at all.

I seem to have been quite lucky. Recently upgraded from Gold to Platinum on the £400 travel credit offer. I had the Deliveroo offer saved which continued to work but assumed it would expire and disappear. Turns out even that one has been extended to 17/10/25 so an extra benefit on my Plat card for another year!

The offer will drop off in a month or so, when the gold card is formally cancelled.
You can prolong this by not using the platinum card yet until you need the dining credits.

Will see how I get on then. I’ve had platinum since August now and have already hit the spend and had my points/credit. Will make use of the offer while I can at least.

If it’s a direct upgrade (not a new gold application), you get the same card number and the offers roll over. It hasn’t dropped off for 2 years now! Shh… 🤫

Mine dropped off after a couple of weeks after using Deliveroo. Like, a couple of weeks after upgrading to the Platinum, I used it, and then it went away after the £5 was credited.

Has anyone got this back after the previous offer expired? Is this still being offered for new cards?

On gold upgraded to plat? Once it drops off, it’s gone.

On new gold, it’s still offered. Extended to Oct 2025.

Oh, OK. I’m just authorised user, my OH said she didn’t see any new offer (probably didn’t check the saved ones).
