Forums Other Destination advice Good travel agent for hotel deals in Maldives

Hi there, I’m a newbie so forgive me if this is not the sort of question I should be posting here but I thought I’d give it a try! My husband and I have managed to get BA return flights on Avios to the Maldives in Club World for next July. I want to stay on Milaidhoo Island which is fiendishly expensive and just wondered whether anyone could recommend an agent who might be able to give us a better deal/rate than simply going direct to the hotel? Any advice/tips gratefully received! Thank you…

It’s worth having a check around the sites like luxury escapes, secret escapes etc they usually have quite a lot of options for Maldives

Trailfinders seem pretty good, both on price and service. Have booked both our past Maldives trip and our upcoming one through them – managed to negotiate the price down as well to nearly match an online site I’d never heard of.

Having ascertained the cheapest price with online agents (assuming these are the same or cheaper than the hotel web site) and sussed out what types of discounts they offer for early booking, how they price benefits in any packages and which ones interest you etc. I would approach the hotel directly, saying you would rather book directly, know they pay 20%+ comm to those agents etc. I would be aiming to get at least 25% off plus some extra inclusions.

Wow! Thank you all so much – you have been really helpful. JDB, you sound like a great negotiator! 🙂

Emyr got us a decent rate with little notice when we went to the Maldives last year.

I would try one of The Maldives specialists like Purely Maldives or Simply Maldives – they have access to special rates and also islands that other agents do not have.
