Hi, lookimg for some advice and experience regarding Hanoi.
Next week I’m travelling with work to Hanoi and staying for 1 week in the Landmark 72.

What’s nearby, withing walking distance that’s worth a visit?

No day trips obvs as during the day ill be in the office on the outskirts of town.
So time off in the evening only. Looking for points of interest nearby my hotel
Or should I grab a cab somewhere more interesting around Hanoi?

I was in Hanoi in Nov / Dec, and I do not know that area around the 72, but you are 30 minutes in a car from the old town and Hanoi Train Street – there is loads to do in that area. The train street itself is a fun experience. There are some good bars and restaurants, incl a few sky bars. we also did a walking tour starting at the lake there (Hoan Kiem Lake) which was great. There will be a evening version

Use Grab to get a cab, it will be cheap

I arrived back from a trip to vietnam on weds morning which included 3 days in Hanoi.

As stated download the grab app before you go to save any issues with local cab companies.

Most of the sights/sites you would want to visit usually shut at 17.00, and quite a few of them, like the imperial city, presidential palace, one pillar pagoda and visit uncle Ho himself wont be accessible altho ho chi minhs mausoleum can be looked at from the street. Hoan kiem lake is a….lake with a small pagoda in it, but its an icon of hanoi.

Highly recommend supping as much coconut coffee as possible, not so keen on egg coffee personally, for coffee try…Cafe Phố Cổ, its hidden behind a tailors shop, for amazing french bakery…CoBa Bakery, and despite eating local food i found an amazing burger joint called “chops” which represented the most expensive meal on my trip, which was still cheap compared to the UK.

One other point take some face masks the pollution in Hanoi is terrible.

Train street is a street with a train track and its only worth visiting when the train actually rolls through it, thankfully thats usually in the evening,
