Checked in at 7am for a flight tomorrow.
5pm get an email about an apparent change to my email address and an activation code has been sent to this new email account.
I tried to log in but couldn’t.
Called BA. (India call centre) and the account is now locked awaiting my proof of ID.
Should I be concerned?
Change the password on your main email address and also go through all your bank and other online accounts and change the password. It sounds like someone has been able to access one of your accounts (maybe your email account to view emails you have received which will give them an insight into your other accounts) and will no doubt try and work through other identifiable accounts. Act quickly.
Make sure you can still access your booking in MMB, you don’t need to be logged in, just locator code and surname.
Email not necessarily hacked as you could do this by knowing:
– surname (any on booking)
– booking reference
You then log into MMB and ask to change the email. BA sends an email to the new address (the one of the hacker) to check it is correct.

Was this an inbound, did you have checked luggage and if so, what did you do with the luggage tag. Your surname and PNR are on the luggage tag so someone could use that to access your booking.
