Typical Amex nonsense – plenty of hotels use 3C and the rebate posts just fine. There have been so many issues with the offers this time, I’ve had to contact them 5 times (by chat and in writing) to get the Hyatt and IHG offers honoured.
Hadn’t posted for me after 2 weeks. Contacted Amex who said the hotel had processed payment with 3C which was a payment facilitator (not one I’d had issues with before at this hotel) so no cashback due. Currently escalated with Amex as I couldn’t know it was a payment facilitator when just passed the card machine.
Interesting. My online prepaid booking was just credited after a few days and it was processed via 3C. Are you sure it was on the list of participating hotels?
Definitely was on the list of participating hotels. I checked that before the stay and again after in case I’d made a mistake! I’ve had 3C payments go through and got the cashback in the past but this time they were adamant that was the problem. They asked me to upload the invoice so I’ve done that and just waiting now to see what the escalation results in.
In which case you could call the hotel and ask them to take payment in advance.

With the Hilton sale that’s going on, I’m tempted to just book for February trip now and also get the 9000 MR bonus. Last time I did advance payment, it was taken a couple of days prior to my stay, even though I had booked a few weeks prior.
In which case you could call the hotel and ask them to take payment in advance.

This in my experience is standard for Hilton. Had an expensive stay at the Conrad in IST. Booked a pre-paid rate to take some of the sting out of the overall cost of the holiday. The agent even rang me back to pre-auth the credit card. But it was just a hold & the hotel didn’t actually charge me until I think arrival.
Booked Hilton LHR T4 on Pre-Paid rate before £50 Amex offer appeared. Had offer also on another Amex card. Got the hotel to refund the original payment and used the 2nd card with offer on checkout. Payment showed as 3C… £50 credited 5 days after checkout.
